Car: 06 G35 Coupe, 6MT, sport suspension, nav, loaded.
Currently has odd,rod-shaped bits of metal sticking out of the side of the block. :(

I have an 06 G35 Coupe. It's loaded - nav, sunroof, 6MT, 4-wheel steering (paying for a new steering rack was anti-fun), etc. I love this car.

Last year, it threw a rod for no apparent reason. It'd never leaked or burned a drop of oil. I'm a real stickler for maintenance. I bought the car in 08 with 50k miles, now has 112k. The car was paid for and I have 2 other cars - my track car (Solstice) and the wife's kid hauler - so I tucked it in a corner of my dad's hangar (must be nice), bought a 4Runner and planned to get back to the G35 At Some Point In The Future (TM).

After our recent hail debacle in DFW, I find myself in need of a couple of replacement vehicles. Since I own the G35 outright, I'm thinking of just putting a new(ish) engine in and calling that my daily driver.

So, questions:

1. Anyone here want an 06 6MT coupe with a blown motor? The tires are new. :)
2. Which motor variant should I be looking for? rev-up, HR, ??? I'm clueless in this department. Something in the $2k-$4k (USD) range would be ideal.

I've replaced a number of engines in my day - including a 91 300ZX TT, which had nearly as many vacuum hoses as my 93 RX-7 - and have the tools, space and expertise to pull it off over a few long weekends. It's certainly less expensive than buying another car.

Any and all input appreciated.
