Just looking for some advice on something for my G. I picked up some flexible LED strips from Oznium.

http://www.oznium.com/
I got two 4.7in white strips. they have a 12V and ground wire and I also pickedup a round LED lit ON/OFF switch. The switch has two 12V and one ground wire.

my initial intention was to install them on the fog light delete in the front bumper. I just wanted to see what everyone though about the best way to do this.

A few questions I though off as I was thinking through installation.

How do you remove the fog light delete?
Is there an AUX 12V supply anywhere under the hood, or should I run it to the battery?
Does the ground have to be on the NEG of the battery, or could it be grounded to anything metal?
Where would you install the button?
What would the recommend path for the wires be?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Where do you plan on installing them...on the inside of the fog light area on the front bumper? I was thinking of doing something similar to my 2009 G37 sedan...I think we have the same front bumper.

So wiring...I believe there is a few spare "slots" in the fuse panel inside the car. That would be the best spot because they will only be on when the car is on. If you wire directly to the battery, you'll have to install a switch inside anyway...

The negative can go to a good ground.

The fog light delete...not sure, but I think it just pops out. if not, you'll have to cut it out. The button can most likely be mounted there as well. I was thinking of having mine on all the time as DRLs, so no switch would be needed.

Wires can be run on the passenger side, behind the battery/windshield shroud. I ran my 8ga wire there for my amp.

I planned on doing mine as DRLs also. My initial though was to run the wires through the firewall where you described. That is also where I ran my grounding wire for my ECU. i was going to install the switch in side the glove box.

i got the oznium flexible led strips. they are 4.7in long and they are rubber. in hindsight, i may should have gotten the 9in. look really durable and will withstand rain/snow. i got white of course. they were really cheap so I will start there.

I looked at a few on ebay...not sure if I want to do a strip or the enclosed-type. Not sure on placement either...other than the lower front bumper.

i installed the switch today. i put it inside the glove box. i grounded it to the ECU mount and then ran two 12v up through the firewall. the the 12v connection is coming from the fuse panel near the battery. i just capped the end of the wire until i am ready to install the lights. i am still trying to decide how i want to set them up. i am also struggling with how to fasten them.

regarding my question above about removing the fog light delete on the front fascia, it is actually just one contiguous piece of plastic in there and that portion is painted black rather than the color of the car. i did not want to cut anything yet just in case i was not certain.

i have a really nice cordless dremel that will do the trick on this. i used it to cut a square out from behind the glove box so the switch would fit through it. it was hitting the back piece when i shut the glove back. the switch is round and i used a 3/4" hole saw to make the cut out. it was a tight fit so i had to dremel the roughness out of the hole so the switch would fit. it is nice a snug now.

I measured the front bumper opening and it looks like 7" is the widest you'd want to go. Now if you want it to curve up or down, that would add a few inches.

As for wiring, I'll do mine to light when the car is running or in ACC. I don't want to mess with a switch...

i understand why you probably dont want to worry with a switch, but this way i can easily turn them off for whatever reason if i want to. it was just a personal preference.

i am having trouble deciding how I should fasten them to the fog light delete. i was thinking of using small gauge tie-wire and put small holes to fish it through. i obviously want it to look clean. any suggestions?

open the hood, remove the cowel and behind the battery is a black rubber "bulb" with has many wires going into it. carfully cut a hole in this. then remove the glovebox then you can fish a straightened wire coat hanger through there. the end of the coathanger will come out near the ECU on the passenger kick panel. then attach your wires you want to fish through and pull it down.
