I will be purchusing an 89-93 240sx as soon as I can get a parking space at UNCG for as cheaply as I can get one that actually runs; around 1k in this area. My query conserns the parts that I should replace to keep the car running well until I have enough cash to do a sr-swap.

What parts should I replace as soon as I buy the car in order to prevent more costly and annoying expenditures that would occur as result of failures (i.e., bearings, bushings, seals, etc...) I will be putting better suspension components and a more free-flowing catback on the car later on, but at first I just want to make sure that the car keeps running.

your best bet i think is to just change all the fluids and get a tune up. just do regular maintenance work when you get it like new pads/rotors if you need them, etc. good luck!

aight, yeah, I figured that would be required. I'm not expecting all that much for a car that cheap, I just want it to hold up until the swap and the other mod's I'll be doing at that time (catback, intake, intercooler, etc...)

any other advice?

I just bought my S14 a week ago and I'm in the process of doing a bit of tune-up myself until I have more money for actual upgrades.

Change things like the air filter, spark plugs/wires, fuel filter, clean out the fuel injectors, etc. I'd also suggest a thorough interior and exterior cleaning. AmorAll, glass cleaning, upholstry cleaning, paint cleaning/polish/wax, etc.

thanks for the advice, I'll do that. Didn't think about the interior cleaning, good idea.

i meant to say clean out the whole thing, i thought i did, i guess not. but yea it would be a good idea. if you want, get a cone style filter and put it on your stock piping. help it out a little. it would at least make it sound a little better.
