Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I have a couple questions. There really isn't a way to test a KA24DE that's already taken out, correct? Your basically going by what they say? I just recently threw a rod in my 240, so I'm in the market for another to turbo in the near future, but for now I'm going to install it and get one running. So that means I would need a lower mileage KA. Where would you guys suggest finding some for a good price? I'm on an extreme budget but I also want something that's not going to blow on me again after a few thousand miles. Thanks.

Well, theres your problem right there. Nothing good comes cheap. Maybe a member would cut you a break and give you one of their old motors, you have a bunch of guys from the forum who live in your area, so that might be the best route.

Find a high mileage one for free and rebuild it.

Well, I've never rebuilt a motor before and wouldn't know what it involves. I'm assuming I would need alot of certain tools for the job as well... I've replaced the clutch on my 240 before, how is that in comparison with rebuilding?

I plan on doing a turbo swap in the near future, so I guess you could say performance.

Think he would take 500 for JUST the motor? And how much shipped to 23060?

what i did was find my local "reputable" swap shop. they usually have so many good ka motors on hand they have to throw them away. this works better the closer you are to a major city with a lot of 240 owners local. he was going to give me 2 running motors for a hundred bucks.

Turbo swapVs.Extreme budget...

Hmm... Something is missing here. Oh yeah, feasibility! Not to pick on you, but turbo jobs are far from cheap. I know, arguments abound, but maybe 1 in 10 cheap turbo jobs have ever come out solid in the end. I have spent tons of money so far on my CA project, and the motor isnt even in the damn car! lol and it came turbo from the factory too...

Lets put it this way, I want to spend the least amount possible for a decent turbo setup. Which actually brings me to another question, I know of someone who says they can get ahold of turbo setups for 1k... has anyone ever heard of this without going the eBay route? I never really heard of any less than 2k, maybe 1500.

All 240's came with a KA already installed. The KA is the stock motor.

I sorta hoped you were joking.
