Lookie what I found http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1

I'm seriously thinking about going down and buying this weekend, but I've got a few questions.

#1) I was thinking $4,500, cash. Too much, not enough? The market for the 260's is kinda weird#2) Other than rust, anything else I should watchout for?#3) Any other comments?

Thanks, I might be joining you in this little subforum!

For starters, remove all the emissions stuff/ swap in a 81 L28, use it's EFI if all possible. Then work on the ignition, suspension, wheels & tires. The goal is daily driver/ part time auto-x. Maybe in a year or so when I'm comfortable with the car swap in the LS1 and T56. I was looking around for a 99 Miata, but recently I remembered these cars existed, and I like the idea. I'm mechanically inclined, but lack experience. I gather these cars are rather "easy" to work on.

if you wanna do that...leave the 260 be.

it's the rarest of the Z cars, I hope it doesn't get mutilated.

go for the 240 being it's emissions exempt...well...you live in FL...

I really don't think you'd want a pushrod v8 in there after driving it with the sweet ohc inline six. You can build them to match the power of the LS1 too

a 73 240Z would be my first choice, but this one is close, seems to be in good shape, and hopefully I can pick it up for a reasonable price. As with my choice of obtaining power, we'll see. I just know that stock they are a little too slow. If this car doesn't work out I'm hunting down a Miata, because at the end of the summer I'm off to college, and the time taken to hunt down a daily driveable Z would drastically reduce the amount of time I'd have to get it squared away.

that looks to be a late 260 judging by the extra relays underhood and the 280 style tail lights, it does however have the early style bumpers and it is carbed, did it start as a injected car and get swapped to carbs? or is it just one of the midshift cars, no way is it origional miles, my guess would be closer to 240k on the miles, someone has the early carbs on it and a tubular header seems kinda high but solid cars are getting harder to find and it really does have a good outward appearance, someone made an effort to get the outside looking so good, a garaged low milage cherry would not liik that bad under the hood, and be very aware of hidden rust, check the floorpans completely ! check inner and outter framerails, the battery tray, check the spare tire well and the hatch sill, if it's not plastic or glass look very hard at it !
