Hey everyone, so I'm picking up a 240sx tomorrow, stock except for alarm and s14 seats. Just wanted to hear your thoughts on what I have in mind. It'll be daily driven mostly, at least until I graduate in a couple years. The rotors needed to be resurfaced, so I figured I'd start with brakes.

Here's the list, more or less in order:180sx calipers - I can get them off a friend of mine, so I figured why not?SE-R/Altima rotorsSway barscams (248/232)rear subframe bushingsKoni sports and lowering springs - haven't decided which springswheels - can anyone recommend offsets for 16x7 to 16x8's? With 215 or 205'sLSD

dunno if I should bother with exhaust or chassis braces. I'm sticking with the KA. I don't care for coilovers or slamming it, the streets here in LA are utter crap and I have to be able to drive it 300 miles back home without wanting to shoot myself.

I dont see why your considering those brakes calipers, aren't they the same? Just get some junk yard Q brakes for the front, and rebuild them.

well you dont need to spend that much on your brakes yet since there wont be any significant mods to make you need monster brakes...

id say go with replacement brakes now(oem) and get a 5 lug conversion later so that youll have a wider variety to choose from in rims and a wider variety of brake options like the z32...

for the rims, just get anything with a lip... id prefer 16x8 over 16x7

+1 on the rsr springs since you dont want coilovers, rsr springs will drop you 2.2"... if not get eibach sportlines

Here's the list, more or less in order:180sx calipers - I can get them off a friend of mine, so I figured why not?SE-R/Altima rotors - stock brakes works well with stock car. Just get new rotors, better pads, and SS brake lines, or go with q45/z32 brake upgrade.Sway bars - Stupid upgrade with only lower springs suspension upgrade. But yes, your car will handle differently with it.cams (248/232) - recondition your engine first. But just cams will not make too much of a difference.rear subframe bushings - Do the whole car's bushings, not just the rear. But I guess you mean solid bushings/alum inserts, right?Koni sports and lowering springs - haven't decided which springs - it all depends on how low you are going.wheels - can anyone recommend offsets for 16x7 to 16x8's? With 215 or 205's - No comment on this. Surf this site more and you will find what is a great offset for yourself/your car. You going to roll your fenders or not? You going to play with cambers? A lot of questions need to be answered before choosing your wheels.LSD - highly recommended upgrade. Which one will you use?

Ok, so I guess I'll stick with stock brakes for now. Think I figured out the wheel offsets after poking around some more.

From reading around, I get the impression that the upgrades with the biggest effect on handling are sways and chassis stiffening...which I will get to, eventually. Am I wrong?

Quote »cams (248/232) - recondition your engine first. But just cams will not make too much of a difference.
Well, I know they won't make a huge difference, but I like the way they modify the power band. I'm not touching the engine otherwise, until I'm certain what I'm gonna do with it.

Quote »LSD - highly recommended upgrade. Which one will you use?
No idea, I haven't done much research yet. I just know that I don't need anything really hardcore.
