Hi everyone. I am getting ready to change the brakes on a 2011 M56X. Does anyone have recommendations on brake pads and rotors? I am looking for longevity. The original pads are supposed to be made by Advics. But I have had great experiences with Akebono pads on other cars. I will probably replace the rotors, as well--easier than getting the original ones resurfaced. (I will resurface the original rotors and store them for the next brake job.) Thank you.

Hey there! Most people seem to go with Brake Motive or one of the other eBay kits that you can get for $200-$250 or so for all corners.

use akebono premium ceramic pads all the way around. No dust, work great, very quiet.
(Akebono one of major japanese mgf of brake pads.)

I'm about to replace all 4 corners on my M37x. Going with Stoptech blanks and Hawk Ceramic pads all around. Last time around I went with Stoptech drilled and slotted rotors as well as Stoptech pads. They've been fine for the most part but I have noticed a good bit of vibration on stopping towards the later end of life. Hoping maybe switching from drilled/slotted to blanks will help with that - she's a great car but not a track b**** anyway :-)

Thank you. I tried Hawk brake pads on a different car and they have great stopping power.

I went with stoptech, drilled cyro rotors all around with Akebono performance pads 2 years ago. No issues at all

Akebono definitely makes a great product - they are the OEM sport brake manufacturer. As a follow up to my previous comment, i've had my new brakes installed for about a month now and they've been great. I did notice some material inside the grooves of my outgoing pads, which I suspect was the cause of my vibration - either that or a warped rotor. Braking has been solid and smooth since putting on the new pads/rotors though. Very happy with the setup I put on.
