All,

I have installed a Sony CDX-GT720 in place of the Bose unt. I have removed all the stock Bose equipment front and rear. I have put Sony Xplod 6X9's in the rear deck. My question is at the front doors. My plan is to create a new baffle to replace the Bose speaker enclosure and mount a 6.5 Infinity 6010cs in the baffle with a spacer ring to push it out closer to the opening.

I need you help with the following. Do ineed to build any type of enclosure for the 6.5? Also, where is a good spot for the tweeter? I was looking at the sail panel trim where the side mirrors are or at the junction on the door above the woofer where the the 2 parts of the vinyl come together with the cloth (at the point).

Any help, advice or even critisicm would be greatly appreceated.

Jonsey....

I'll just warn you now that people aren't to fond of infinity speakers around here.

The sail panels are a decent spot for the tweeters. The actual speakers your going to have to cut up the stock speaker pod, or if you have the tools available I would highly recommended building a new pod out of mdf. You can fit up to 6x9's in the front doors if that's what your into. Check out the speaker fit guide and there are a few posts about it in there.

I happen to like the Infinity Kappas, so speak for yourself Mark

As for the tweeters, they will look good in the sail panels but you might want to read up on stereo imaging. You will probably get the best sound if they are at ear level or just above. At the very least point them at your ear level when you are in a comfortable driving position.

He was speaking for me

No need for an enclosure. I'd recommend using some kind of dampner, like dynamat to seal off the door panel completely. The Q45 doors are very solid and pretty well sealed to begin with. I never had a problem back when I stuff aftermarket 6.5s in mine with just the MDF baffle

Thanks to all for the replys,

As to the imaging, some pages have said to keep within 12" of the woofer. Anybody find that to be the case? As to Dynamat, would right behind the speaker on the inner door skin be the place? I don't want to reinvent the wheel, thats why I appreceate the help and information

Jonsey

New thought, anybody use loose speaker baffling (like wall insulation) behind the speaker?

It will definitely sound better within 12" of the midrange but I honestly havne't found that it sounds that much worse if they are up there (just make sure that you bring down the tweeter level) Dynamat the inner and outer door skins if you have the means, otherwise just the inner is good.

Loose baffling is not a good idea with the windows and such moving up and down.

Pay no mind to his choice of gear. If it isn't in his list of cheap audio stuff in his sig, it is over priced or junk. Infinity isn't bad stuff at all, some people just don't like the tonal quality.

Sorry about my comments. Don't let them disturb you.

I just think that whatever you're thinking about getting, atleast listen to it, if possible, to make sure that it is to your liking.

If you can, when listening to the equipment use a CD or something that you are very familiar with.

Alot of people like Infinity, I am not one of them. Alot of people don't like fat chicks, but some do. Who's really right?

It's all really about what sounds good to YOU! I highly encourage you to go out to the local audio places and listen to different brands. Don't just settle for the selection at BB and CC. The custom shops will have brands that you, and probably I, have never even heard of. Look hard enough and you'll find somethign perfect for you.

Just don't buy from the custom shop, unless you can truely afford it. You can usually get the same speakers online for much cheaper.

Let me see if I get this straight,

1.I find a fat chick who loves Infinity's above all other speakers.

2. I convince her to listen to my system.

3. If I impress her with the tonal quality, stereo imaging, and the booming bass. I can say "A job well done"

4. Get rid of fat chick
