my ka has 220,000, possible rebuilt once (just took over ownership recently) I only seem to have to add 1/4 or a quart every month, month in a half, and sometimes longer. Any idea what my problem could be? Any advice would be helpful.

Well, there's quite a bit of difference between 1/4 quart and one quart. And, an estimate on mileage is better than time. If your car burns 1/4 quart of oil every 1k miles or so, thats pretty much normal.

WOW, this question can not be answered on here. But if you want a list, then here it is:

1) Bad PCV2) Number of old worn seals3) Slight Rear Main leak4) Burning it5) Just an old, worn out motor.

It is more than likely a combination of all of these things. Your motor is just higher mileage and going to burn some. Also, you are bound to have numberous oil leaks by this point due to higher levels of blowby in the crankcase. I say if it is only a 1/4 qt between changes then that is well below the industry maximum for a new car and so you should just forget about it, unless you need an excuse to rebuild your engine.

I know it's a broad question, and I was more or less checking to see if I was on the right track and not missing something small inbetween. Thank you for all the ideas! For 220,000 miles it sure does run strong though. hahaha Someone just started to slip on maintaining this car and I got it before it was far too late!

Check your compression and leak down. That will tell you about the rings and valve seals. I am guessing you do not smoke real bad?

Look around the engine for sludge, that will tell you if it is leaking.

I really wouldn't worry about it though.

right on, I didn't think so cause I figured that the car was good with it running like that, like I said it runs strong. I think I'm going to detail the engine (even though it is not too bad, it does have a lot of "crud") to better located anything that might be leaking. (I have a possible water pump, hose leak that is here one day, and seems to be fine others) so as you can see lots to do, especially just takin over the car recently... Thanks for all your help,

I'm sorry... you lost me. You know, an overhaul with forged internals and a turbo kit are about the same price as an installed SR20 (when you consider a good number of SR20s are now taking 5K to do a proper install). All of the good ones have been taken. Now, you can boost your KA for the same price and build a bulletproof boost monster that has TQ. But to each his own, I guess.

If you do it right and do most yourself, you can rebuild the KA for about a grand, and that's complete, better than stock rebuild. Cost will be mostly on parts and machine shop.I did a swap and Front/Rear main seals, clutch, valve cover myself. (with help) it wasn't all too bad so long as you have another car to pick up parts.

In any event, I am parting mine out, so let me know if there is something you need.

something I really need is an drivers side power window unit. The track and all. I have been looking for one for a while now. Also, I need the sunroof latch (the part that is connect to the sun roof). These are the only interior parts I'm really worried about or need. What kind of parts do you have? Engine or interior??

Power windows are evil. I'm manual all the way.

They are evil and I hate my driver side being out, especially summer coming shortly and the car being black doesn't help! Does anyone have an aftermarket intake for the KA24E? Exhaust?
