Looking to buy either an 05 or 06 coupe (undecided on 6MT or 5AT). I was looking for advice on any common or known problems I should look for with these years. I've located 3 in my area that are all between 45-60k miles. Prices are between $16k and $17k.

Thanks for any advice or input you can provide.

Not much difference between the 05 and 06. Ask if it's the original clutch on the 6MTs...the Nissan transmission is strong, but loud. Ask if it burns oil...there is an issue with those years on the REVUP engine derivative with oil consumption. The 06s did get HID lights. I loved my 05 coupe!

I don't always trust dealers, is there an easy way to tell if the transmission has been replaced? How about the 5ATs, any problems there? I also thought some of the 05s had HIDs? If they don't has anyone just added HIDs to the stock lights and how did it look?

Sorry for all the questions but current owners always seem to be the best source of knowledge. I did the same thing before I bought my TBSS.

The oil consumption issue is only with the MT.
The AT is very strong from what I've read.
If I were on the fence, this would push me toward the AT.
I've been pushing a clutch for over 30 years so I'm enjoying my AT....so does my sometimes sore knee. :yesnod

I'm trading in a MT Mustang and will be doing more city driving so I certainly agree about the AT which is why I'm leaning that way also.

Found a very clean 05 with 66k on the clock that I am interested in. Going to check it out shortly and will hopefully be posting pics of my new ride this evening.

HIDs were added in 06...it's an easy mod that a lot of people do to 05s. AT trannys are decent...the 7-speed it better!
