A few keys to successfully completeing any major repairs/projects.1. Download the service manual and read it.2. Study the service manual.3. Memorize the service manual and follow what it says.4. Figure out just what it will take to complete the project/repair (parts, time, etc), and make sure you have what it takes to do it right.5. If you don't know, don't guess. Ask questions. There's alot of good information on this site and there's alot of good people that will answer questions and help point you in the right direction. LISTEN TO WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY.6. Don't give up. The answer is uaually right under your nose, ya just don't know it yet.7. Work smart, work safe and have fun.

A+ for effort. I found the list to be a bit redundant, though.

Yeah, I know. But it was that redundancy that just saved me from replacing a transmission when all I really needed was a grounding strap.A few hours of studying turned troubleshooting my electrical system into an hour job.

in all honesty, great post. i get so tired of reading the same questions everyday. i bought my s14 and had massive electrical problems and it was my problem, not nico. i was "told" that it was a fuse behind the dash but i found out i had a melted main harness and my tach was broken. if i didnt use my fsm and my test lamp for my wiring, my electrical wouldnt be working right now. i couldnt imagine how many threads of "how do i fix" i could have made. if you guys feel the need to work on your car at least have an understanding of how things work. search+google+fsm.

If i might add another thing, that i learned from experience...

It doesnt take as long and is cheaper to do it right...

(explination)you buy an ebay turbo for $400+ship (WEEE) your boosted....your rippin around town for say 6 months, havin a blast, finally your up beside some big mustang, you punch it, so does he!

you blow up your turbo. now you go and buy another ebay turbo, (400+ship) it lasts a week.

now what would have been cheaper? to buy 3 ebay turbos? or 1 solid garret, or other reliable turbo?

The first command on that list should be to search all threads before asking a reduntant question.
