Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum but was recommended through a mechanic in the Bay Area. My 1995 Nissan 300 ZX 2+2 Non Turbo was damaged in an accident. Because the repairs are more costly than the value of the car, I'd rather sell it than deal with it. I've set up a craigslist posting to sell the car here

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/4583797897.html

but also wanted to know if anyone knew the best way to sell one of these cars and get the most amount of value on it? Most salvage yards are only offering me a few hundred bucks and that seems like a big rip off. The car can still drive and the engine is totally in tact so I know someone out there would want this thing for parts. Please feel free to contact me about what I should do and I look forward to your responses.

Kevin

Part out would be the way you'll get the most money,(although 2500 is usually how much these cars start at) but you have to be patient since not everything is going to sell quick. How much are they charging you to fix the car.

Thanks for the response. They never gave me an exact quote on the repairs but all I've ever heard was that it would take "thousands" and would cost more than the value of the car. I can only guess it would take anywhere from 5-10 grand to fix this car. And nobody is going to do that.

That seems like a fair price, if not a bit low. You should be able to get some bites on it. Post it on the classified section here too.

Good luck.

Do you know, Is that a bolt on replacement, or does it need to be welded?

that is definitely welded. the bodyshop guy is going to rape your wallet and leave you with only a pair of boxers.
