i will be be buying a new car in a couple months and realy like the 240sx and the 300zx. My spending limit is around $3500 so i was looking at the '89-90 240sx hatchback and the 1st generation 300zx. my parents really dont like these cars bc there insurance is high from my brother bc he totaled his 1990 300zx when a car hit his rear left tire and broke the axil. but thats a different story itself. I was wondering which car i should get. im not really going to go to the track yet, but i would like to have a fast car. so if i got the 300zx. i would probably spend the extra money (if any) and making the car run like it was new and look new. if i got the 240sx (i could fix it up if i had to) and then put a intake and maybe a exaust if any money left. So which one do u think would be a better buy. also if u could explain y i should get each car. and like some pros and consabout each.

Assuming both cars are in the same condition, the 240sx will be cheaper to insure and much cheaper to maintain and use less gas than the ZX, but the 300ZX will be faster and more comfortable. The 4 cyl 240sx is also not considered a sports car by the insurance companies, but the 6 cyl ZX is considered a sports car. ZX's are great cars, but if your money is limited, I suggest going with the 240sx.

why would u say a zx is more confortable?

thas my main reason is the money. but i like the body of the zxs sooo much more than the sx's

and now that i think about it i think i will just go to the insurance company and get quotes for both of them and see the difference.

but is there any real pros and consto them still.

I'd try for a 91-93 240sx. This has a DOHC engine with 15 more horsies than the 89-90 SOHC model and you can still find one easily for under $3000. The 240 is a lighter car, but a little slower.

that what i like about them

so i think i will go with a 240sx so my parents are all pissed off at me for having a sports car bc they pay for most of the insurancei have to pay them a lil bit every month.

and also will a exhaust and intake make a really big difference in the car. bc i really dont want to spend the money on a turbo. i really dont have that kind of money to put into a car.

Definately look into the 91-93 240sx. Reasonably priced and very dependable. Mine had 170K on it when I sold it with a bad timing chain rattle for 2000 bucks. Plus it has the cool front end with the lower vents under the lights.

maybe i will get a 240sx and i want something ALOT faster. ill just save up and sell the car and get a 300zx. but if i want somthing a lil faster i guess i could just throw a intake and exhaust.

300zx's aren't that fast. My buddy owns a 93 300zx 5spd. He runs like 15.8's. They aren't that much faster. Stock to stock.

Sorry, rude awakening... speed in any of these types of cars costs money. If you want cheap speed, go for a Buick GN or another V8.

ZX has nicer seats, it's wider, heavier and more luxurious and has a more powerful motor. At double the 240sx price when it was new, the 300ZX BETTER be more comfortable than the 240sx.

The 300ZX is attractive, no doubt. The 240sx is also attractive

I pretty much summed them up for you. What other areas are you unsure about? ZX is a more expensive car to keep and fix. Plain and simple. Since you're a teenager on a budget, a 240sx is a smarter choice as a first car

I'd recommend getting a car with more passenger room -- when I was a youngin' I used to car-pool like a mug (those all-night drives with friends across a state can be quite fun :-)

Then again, I have a hatchback. The coupes _should_ be _slightly_ better.
