Advice for a new owner?

Hey everyone,

I bought an '89 Nissan 240SX today and finally joined a subculture I've been following for a long time. It's the base model, not SE, with the KA24 motor. I bought the car with 154,xxx original miles and everything seems to be working perfectly so far. I took it for a nice long drive, got used to it, and totally love the car!

As a new owner I was wondering if any of you 240 gurus out there had any advice as far as some of the things I should watch out for? Bought the car from the original owner who kept on top of oil changes, tune ups and other regular maintenance, and was wondering what - if any - problems I should expect to run into with a car that's got this many miles on it. What typically goes wrong, and when?

Any advice would be awesome guys, I appreciate your time =)

"subculture"? I though I was the only one rolling around in a gimp suit and bunny slippers. The biggest thing I always see on Silvias and 180s is rust, wiring and tension rods

They rust on the junction between the front frame rails and floorboards especially if the brake master cylinder has been leaking. If it's a sunroof car they rust on the rocker panels ahead of the rear tires and around the sunroof itself.

Power windows go screwy sometimes, won't go up, won't go down, jiggle the button, window drops into the door abruptly.

Tension rods fail giving you a wiggly steering. If you look under the front end locate the rods leading from the front to the lower control arms diagonally. If they are greasy at the bushing end they are bad.

As far as engine problems I don't know, never had a KA24. If you haven't already post something in the KA engine forum.
