advantage upgrading to gps version 7.4 from 7.1?

MY 2006 M35 mapping has been upgraded once to 7.1 I believe and I was wondering what results people have had upgrading to 7.4. Is this a software and mapping upgrade which makes the navigation system run better and thus worthwhile or could it be considered a slight mapping improvement only. If it is an overall system improvement I would purchase it, but if it would be hard to see any improvements I would probably pass. I have never had a factory navigation system in a car like this before and don't have any experience in system upgrades. Any input from people experienced in using these systems would be appreciated

I just upgraded to 7.4 and i cant see any program improvments. I can only guess that roads built since 7.1 would be the change you would see. Maybe someone else has a different view, though.

My car icon never is exactly where it should be. I really hoped the new version got him into a more accurate location. I even use the feature in NAV to adjust current location but in 10 minutes he's always a little behind.

I just upgraded because I moved to a new sub-division and my street wasn't on v7.1, it is now on v7.4, so it no longer looks like I'm driving into an empty field, aside from that I haven't noticed any difference (not saying there isn't anything new, but haven't seen any in everyday driving)

When I upgrade a navi disc, all I have to do is insert it right? Do i need to do anything else, like an update or anything to navi system?

I am pretty sure its like a plug and play thing!

Yeah, I couldn't see that there would be any improvements in the Nav system itself. I currently have the 7.3 ver and have only thought of upgrading to the 7.4 ver only due to my street address not being on file in the 7.3 ver. I believe that the Nav systems OS is integrated into itself. You would probably have to have an Infiniti dealership upload a new updated Nav version OS into the main system (if it was available).

Just for verification, I assume my 2007 M45 has version 7.3. It doesn't state the actual version, it just shows version 2007-2008. I assumed it was version 7.3.Is that right?
