Advancing The Timming?

Do I just loosen the two bolt and turn the ditributor to the right until I here a knock then turn it back to the left till the knock goes away? or do I have to disconnect some wire and/or vacume? Note: My car is 95 240sx...Thanks..

You won't hear any knock at idle. Knock typically occurs under load. Use a timing gun. You do have to diconnect the TPS sensor.

I just adjusted my timming with the use of the timming light. I set it to factory spec. (I think). But I did not disconnect the TPS. Is this really necessary? What could happen if I did not disconnect the TPS?Thank You...
