Not my info and not trying to steal anyones thunder. Was a post by someone over there. I should be doing it this weekend though and taking pictures so once I can give my own write up I will post it up.

Z, whats the reasoning behind that? Problem with the site before?

From the FAQ:

Quote »My post / thread disappeared - What happened?

While the NICO Administration tries very hard to avoid censoring or removing posts, posts or threads can be removed for any number of reasons. The most common reasons are:

1) Linking to a forum that competes with NICO. While this may seem silly, NICO exists due to the enormous flow of traffic that enters the site. Without this, the resource would cease to exist.[/quote]Basically, NICO is a free site for its members (and will remain free), because its costs - which are not small, by the way - are paid for by the advertisers and other sources of revenue ... very common practice for web sites of this type. If we freely allowed the traffic to leave NICO, then the ad revenue drops and things get tighter for this site.

So ... links to competing sites are not allowed.

By the way, in case you wanted to know, all of us Moderators are unpaid - we do this for the fun of it and because we are car enthusiasts (in general) and Nissan/Infiniti owners/enthusiasts (in particular)! We have regular day jobs ...

The few who get some some money out of this are the owner (it is his business) and one or two developer Admins - for whom it is a lot of effort to keep things going and done, and being totally unpaid would make it impossible for them to find the time to do the work.

Boon,

the ipod solution (from what i can piece together from nico and freshalloy) sounds great. I actually just bought the schematics to the tape deck/audio controller and was going to tear down my cassette deck this weekend. So, great timing with your post. It sounds like you know how to hook it up, but if you think the wiring layout would help, let me know and I'll forward it to you.

I've been dormant on the board for a bit but I was working on a Drive and Play 2 custom install...which, barring any more unforeseen problems, I'll wrap up this weekend.

If you have some directions/pics for the install and could post by this weekend, I'd appreciate it...but either way, it sounds like a great fix to a big problem for ipod users...

Stroked that would be awesome, if you could email those to me I would greatly appreciate it. I will have it all apart and be playing with it and should have pictures/writeup posted by the weekend.

Things at FA kinda went south on the subject so I will try to be as informative on here as possible. All credit goes to Thirty7th over there for finding this out.

Sounds great. I'll get those diagrams to you this evening. Otherwise, let me know if I can help any other way.

Got the diagram and it is perfect. Actually pulled everything apart last night so I will probably be doing this after work tonight. If I have time I will post tonight, if not should be up by Friday night.

Can't the harness on the outside of the head unit be tapped instead?

No, because the tape player is the actual head unit the connection is all internal, thus you have to use the harness inside the unit.
