I need some help with rotors people.

Slight shaking, when braking at high speeds. Above 55mph. Brake pedal pulsates slightly and rotors feel warped when touched, compared with rear rotors.

I went to Nissan dealership and they charge $85 dollars per rotor.

So today I grabbed a pair of Wearever rotors for fronts. $24 each, advance auto parts.

It says made in China.(my worst nightmare)

I was wondering, why Nissan dealership charges $85 per rotor? What is the difference between wearever and OEM rotors? Do they use different type of metal that wear longer?

I searched and read that someone had a bad experience with wearever rotors, them being not balanced or shaped irregularly.

Please answer ASAP, as I will be putting these on tomorrow after 0100pm.I also enjoy high speed driving on the back roads here, so balance and alighment is my priority.

thank you.

Materials, quality, vaning (if its directions/correct...as well as the ammount), balance...

I personally don't trust some rotor companies, but you can get brembo blanks (held to a pretty high standard) fairly inexpensive..

so I assume it would be okay to use these until my front pads go out, then buy brembo blanks or somehting close.

about 50% life left on front pads.

I will go ahead and put them on now, and will be doing some testing; high speed, low speed, braking, etc... will post the restults here.

thanks for your help.

+1 for brembo blanks. not the chepest, but they hold up well. no problems out of mine so far. I am curious as to how the wereavers hold up. i had some of their pads on the back of my car as temporary pads untill I got my 300z brakes, they stopped well, but dusted to high heaven.

all right, I put them on and tested them.

1. before putting the tire on, and tightening the lug nuts, I tried without the tire.two lug nuts were on and tight. When you turn the rotor, it hits the brake pads just a little bit. You can hear it, but it doesn't apply enough force to slow it down.

2. I sanded the brake pads down a bit to make the surface smooth from last rotors.

3. Overall they are nice. Took it for a 5 mile spin and broke the pads in.

No more shaking, while braking at high speeds. I will use them until the next pad change, then will switch to brembo blanks. We'll see.

Brake test speeds: 110mph, 95mph, 85mph, 75mph, 65mph. Every time brakes applied, speed was decreased by about 40mph agressively. Quiet adequate smoothness was felt.

Just bought new tires and had an alignment done too. High speed driving is a pleasurable experience again.

OEM are obviously the best, but the brembo blanks are probably a close second place...

you can pick them up for $80 a pair (for Z32s) all day long

I wouldn't say they are the best. I'd speculate that Nissan actually buys the rotors from another company. Given that, there is certainly the possibility that an equal rotor exists from another company. Possibly even better. I will say that with OEM, you'll have less of a chance of getting a poor quality rotor. Most name brand rotors will be of good quality. What you want to avoid ar ethe cheap brands as the materials they use are sub-par and more prone to failures. And yes, it is possible the cheaper rotors can wear down faster.
