This is a pretty ackward and stupid question, but...

When I'm adjusting my shift boot at the point where it meets the knob, it's all bulged up and looks terrible. The previous owner had the boot fastened to the shifter with a wire tie on the inside, and it was perfect. It was smooth and flush all the way around the boot with no bulge at all.

I tried the samething, but the lock on the wire tie is poking at the boot and sticking outwards. It looks and feels terrible from the outside.

Anyone have any personal tips on this? Like what to use, or how to do so.

Use baling wire and twist it with pliers. Then bend the twisted part down so it doesnt poke your hand.
