Adjusting Coilovers

Been thinking about this lately, is there any popular or standard method to adjusting coilovers? should i start at the hardest setting and count down, or start at the softest setting and count up? thanks for any opinions

I start stiff and work down. At the point where coilovers are used, ride quality is shot, but trying to dial in some amount of suspension travel while keeping the rigid handling will be key. Most of the time people that come in to the shop say they set to the softest because any other setting is intolerable. I often wonder if they can really tell any difference..

yeah, im more concerned with getting them all to be even than i am the overall stiffness. its seems hard for me to tell exactly where each one starts and stops and i want to make sure im starting at the same point for each of them. thanks for the help, ive been doing the opposite of you, but ive heard thats popular so ill readjust them soon.

You should check the manual or contact Jic. IIRC for KYB's, they tell you to go back to the lowest setting counter clockwise and then adjust clockwise to the setting you want.

are you just adjusting the dampning or the ride height? for myself on the dampning i started full soft and counted how many turns i turned the knob. turn the fronts and rears the same amount. now test drive. repeat until out of adjustment range or its the way you like it.
