I've done a zillion V-belt adjustments, but no ribbed belts. How tight do they have to be? I'm ready to put a new set of belts on my 240SX and I don't want to have them get broken/glazed the first day.

same type of adj. just make sure you dont go to tight or to loose.

should be able to move the belt a little bit but not too much.. and be able to twist it half a turn.

Thanks. Now I can find out how much power these slipping belts have been wasting (my power drops way down when the belts are slipping).

Horsepower. I'm not sure if its the belts doing it though. When I start it in the morning, its like a rocket and the belts don't slip. When I start it to come home from work, it has power until the belts start to slip. Then it feels more like a station wagon than a 240SX. I'll figure it out (or have better questions to ask) once I get all the known problems fixed and I see what its doing then.I've done a lot to it in the past week. Hit all the sensor connectors with contact cleaner and dielectric grease, bypassed the AIV, and fixed a massive exhaust leak. It runs a lot better than it did, but its not quite there yet.
