Adjustable Shocks? What are you adusting?

You know those adjustable shocks that like... KYB and those companies make. What are you actually adjusting on them? Because I know there's a little knob, but I don't know what you are actually adjusting...

when you go over a bump.. do you want your shocks to resist the bump more or less?

I have KYB, I don't like the rear, the front are okay... if I can do it again I would get kyb agx front and koni yellow rear

It's actually "damping."

But like you, I enjoy the ability of the KYB's to adjust the front, but the rears are much more of a PITA. I wish all adjustible struts had the adjustment at the top, as it would make life much easier.
