When I got my '07 M35 last year I had an alignment done as it was pulling pretty hard to the right, fully swapping lanes in a couple of seconds. The shop was able to make some adjustments but said the front right camber was out of whack, causing the pull, but couldn't be adjusted unless I had an aftermarket kit installed. They estimated $800, with the parts costing $450 or so (Summit sells the SPC kit but I've found it cheaper on eBay). The Infiniti dealer wanted that same amount just to diagnose the problem. They seemed to think the subframe needed to be replaced. I'd sell the car before I went to that extent, though.
Looking at the front suspension shop manual the job doesn't seem all that hard for someone with reasonable experience. The struts don't have to be compressed, and the only specialized tools look to be a ball joint separator, which I have. Otherwise it's follow-the-numbers. Right?
Anyone have experience with the job or with the kit? I don't want to slam or stance the car, I just want it to not pull to the right or shudder at highway speeds. It's eating the tires and probably not doing great things for the rack.
My rack is also leaking slightly - in a year I've only had to add a touch of fluid, but it groans when I turn to the right if it's cold. That job is significantly more difficult as it's easy to damage the splines, at least in my experience. Still, worth the hassle while I'm in there?
