What is the recommended industrial-strength adhesive to use in order to glue back the letters onto the trunk lid? Can that be found at the local auto stores like Autozone or do I need to buy it from the dealer? Is there a method to prep the surfaces before using the adhesive either to the trunk itself or the actual letters?

Clean the surface very well with a mild alcohol sovent. If paint is old and oxidized might want to go so far as using polish or clay bar.

3M makes a trim adhesive. Beware of what is hawked at Poop Boys et al.

The 3M tape works great but is $35 a roll and you'll only need about 30 cents worth. I've got a roll and will send you enough for your emblems. Contact me by email if you're interested.

You also might consider a clear silicone or RTV adhesive. You'd probably want to do it with your trunk open for a few hours to give it a chance to set up. Both are available in any hardware or auto prts store.

Yeah, the stuff to which I was referring is in a tube, about $14 but still way more than you need. Might be worthwhile to go get the Poop Boys $1 .5 oz. package at the counter and see if it works.
