Hi again,"2000 I30"looking to see how we feel about adding fuel injector cleaners to the gas tank. I only use exxon/mobil 93 octane, wondering if their are any benefits with additives. oh yeah while i'm at it how about engine treatments ie. slick 50:help

I think most agree that it is no problem adding a good FI cleaner to the tank every 3000 miles (w/oil change). This helps prevent clogged injectors and dirt build up. A good rail flush is still recommended (Q45Tech says once a year). Doing a good rail flush at all probably exceeds most users maintenance. If always using good fuel, chevron w/techron for example, and FI on the 3000 you could go to every two years for a good flush...IMO.

90-93 Nissan engines had single pintal injectors and were subject to partial clogging more so than the later 4 hole type injectors.
Unfortunately the later units are not interchangable due to the shape of the atomized stream [why they changed heads and lower runner shape in 94].
But to my knowledge no one has ever experimented on the effects of using later injectors on earlier engines.
In any case the idle [a cruise rpm] balance is critical so all 8 would need to be changed then before after - dyno runs done made to see the problems created.

The difference is one of degree of flow restriction! All types get dirty from gum and varnish in fuels.........why one changes brands ocassionally as it is hoped that MAYBE the additives in one brand will wash away some of the baked on additives of the previous brand.
All the additives allowed to be mixed in fungible gasoline must be registered with EPA so there are NO SECRET MAGICAL ingredients!

keystone:Stay away from miracle oil treatments Slick 50, ttech, prolong, zmax and all those miracle additives.Without exception they are SCAMS, that will either do nothing or actually harm your engine!
Adding injector cleaners like CHevrontechron is a good thing on otehr hand.
Fred...
PS: Non -miracle additves like MMO, BG prod 111, etc are ok, if you understand what they do and what u r using them for.

There have been changes made on Nissan engines with the newer fuel injectors. It has been done on a 300zxtt. The injectors were changed from a single port injector to a quad injector. It was accomplished by changing the lower plenum to an updated style, porting the injector valley on the head and installing updated fuel rails.

See half of the rail flush [SOLUTION] involves using a higher than standard injector pressure.........since most of the time [99%] the injector sees 34 psi and rarely except WOT even 43.4 psi, [how long do most run WOT if ever?].........a rail flush at 50-55 psi pushes with the help of the solvents in BG Cleaners the particles trapped by the individual injectors screens into and thru the injectors cleaning off the pintal!
Failure to maintain the fuel system as clean as possible [clean gas, clean sock, frequently changed oem fuel filters] results in the build up on individual injector screens.
Not to mention the way many drive: cold start 15 minute running, hot soak for 4 hours, then do it all over again at lunch, on the way home and short Saturday trips! This type of driving makes the clogging problem severe!

You just described my exact driving habvits during the week.
Except on the weekend my cars see WOT several times and some 100mph + runs on hiway as well.
