Not sure adding additional fuel filters serves any purpose or provides any benefits. The injectors fail due to plastic bodies eventually becoming brittle and cracking from the massive heat under the plenum, allowing the fuel to get to electrical windings and corroding the windings and the swelling of injector bodies tearing apart the electrical connections inside injectors.

Heat, not dirt, is the problem to be solved!

Be very careful where you mount those filters. There was a member years ago that put an aftermarket clear (plastic) filter under the hood too close to the exhaust manifold. It melted and caused an under hood fire - totaling the car.

besides the heat concern, make sure the filter is rated to at least 50psig operating. most of the clear filters i remember were for the old mechanical fuel pumps that never got above 10 psig.I've been thinking that what we really need is a fuel tank 'push to drain' like on small GA aircraft to periodically get the water out of the tank.

ha. then the cup full or so of gas that i would be dumping on the ground every week would more than make up for the perceived benefit of reduced HC from burning the ethanol crap.

Notice Q45tech has gone to a 3 month interval on fuel filters with the advent of ethanolized fuels in his area. Better idea to increase frequency of change than to add additional filters.

They're worth more wrecked with an insurance payout than you could sell them for on the open market right now.

Would the gas tank inlet and outlet hoses be a good spot to mount the fuel filters? You wouldn't have to worry about engine heat there and it's easy to get to once you remove the rear trim piece and lay your big arse in the trunk.

Rather than interrupt the hose in the trunk and risk fumes, better to put it in the rear wheel well like on the FGY33. It's not fun to change and another reason why I prefer the under hood location of the G50.

But more filters will put more resistance in the line and shorten fuel pump life. Who wants to change more than 1 filter at a time?

I don't think extra filters are the greatest idea either but the Safety Engineer in me was trying to suggest a location other than the engine compartment so Rabsusa doesn't end up a crispy critter.

Depends on how craptastic your fuel supply is.

Wonder how the other 99.9999999999% of cars on the road that dont change their fuel filters every 90 days in areas with e10 fuel operate? Seems like the general population manage to operate their vehicles just like in the pre e10 era. Have not seen any increase in the number of broken down cars on the side of the highway here in Md where we have had e10 for 5 years now.

Well, on the relevant post he does note more debris when he blows the filter out. I know, 99.999999999999999% of the people don't do that, but then that is why they don't know what is occuring with thier filters.

I imagine the advantage is more evident after 200K miles. Remember he has 330K+.

Yeah, even if I were running Av Gas, I wouldn't run the fuel filter beyond 12K. Just too small.

Keep in mind, according to Nissan and the owners manual AND factory service manual, they do not EVER spec a fuel filter change, regardless of miles driven.....so every 30,000 miles is overkill according to their schedule!!!!!

Never have I experienced any fuel delivery issues changing the filter every 30K in my 240,000 miles of driving my Q

Those with OCD are welcome to change it every 90 days if it helps them sleep better!!!!

Yes - the point is to filter out the particles caused by the ethanol... degraded fuel lines, rust (from the water carried) etc. - but you can only do so much from a practical standpoint.

Might as well close the barn door after the horses have left while you are at it.
