Hey guys,

Heard this at work (guy's dad was a Nissan tech) - since the VQs sometimes consume oil, when you do an oil change, put 4 qts of oil then 1 quart of transmission oil. Is that a trade secret only few know about or is this just plain silly? Thanks.

This will accomplish nothing. Engine oil does not need any additives.

I wouldn't do it. Oil companies employ some pretty smart engineers to develop oils. As a result, engines run hundreds of thousands of miles. When I was a kid you were lucky to get 100k miles and if you did, it would be smoking and burning a quart of oil every tank of gas.
