I went to a local audio shop and had them listen to my system. The bass is loose and lousy, we all know that. I asked about switching out speakers and he didn't think that would make too much of a difference for the money.

what he told me to do was put an enclosed sub in the truck with a dedicated amp, and tie it into the factory system. then turn the base down on the BOSE system all the way.

He said this would make a huge difference on the system. this will probably run me from 500 to 750, you guys think that is a good price? Worth it to you guys?

Sounds like an OK price, but completely depends on the type of sub and amp he is going to install. I looked into getting the JL Audio everyone was raving about on here, but the $2K sticker shock to install one sub with an amp was too much.

Depends on the amp and sub you get?? but if you want to really feel the bass come though I had to upgrade from my 300watt amp and Sub to a 600watt amp and better sub! cuz the 300watts wasn't cutting it especially with the M's thick back seats and insulation! so now my 600watt phoenix gold amp and JL audio W6 12in sub puts out enough bass for my taste in music! I also got a overdrive unit which increases the volume of your factory head unit because they are weak in wattage!! so you might want to add that in also overdrive or a epicenter unit, but the epicenter is much more $ and all it does is give you more BASS so you will have bass listening to anything country, opera haha whatever! If your in So. Cal i have my previous amp and sub if you want to buy it kicker 12 comp and a Fosgate 325watt amp. Good luck

Thanks guys. The sub was JL not sure about amp. Not sure about wattage either, I guess those are important questions

I don't want so much bass i'm heard a mile away, I just want clean, tight bass.

I'll look into the overdrive too.. thanks!

Great advice skim. Does the overdrive have a "aux" input as well?

first, it really helps if you tells the yr of the Q. Just put it over in the avitar where you have your town.

in the 02 F50 body, there is an amp but it powers all the speackers not just the sub in the rear window shelf.

second, the trunks are sealed and insulated (infiniti Q - top of the line luxury) so you have to have some way for the base sound to get into the interior......or your just buyin THUMP!like the previous poster who had to double up in watts.

I run A KENWOOD ksc-SW10 POWERED sub. it maxes at 150 watts but I run it IN the car. actually in the open space created by the armrest being down.It fills in the bass nicely AND i dont have to run it at MAX.

I came right off the rear deck speaker

it has a remote power on/off also freq and power knobs that sit in the top armrest.

I have an '06 M45, not a Q. But thanks for the post, that looks great.

Will I have the same problem with the M's trunk?

sorry, yes. the trunk is insulated and sealed.

A bass speaker is pushing air. on that little powered speaker in my backseat, I can feel the air when there is a strong bass. I can hold my hand 6 inches away and feel it on almost any song. That's why the cars w/ the big speakers rattle. It is unavoidable. So you have to have an exit port for the sound to go thru into the car. you could cut up you rear tray but it's hit or miss.

I had bought a very thin black material...almost mesh to cover the speaker so no one would see it. the mesh would dance infront of the speaker. when I taped it down....it 'rattled and buzzed' because the air was blocked.

good luck

SilverCI, I would seriously consider having them install a separate control for the sub.

I have the bose 8 speaker. I added an 8" W7 sub and JL 500/1 amp and had it the way you're planning to in a custom enclosure made by the audio shop. They told me to keep my bass to 2 notches below half way. I have it at 5, sometimes 6 or even more depending on the song. But the speakers really need to stay at 5 or 6 without having to worry about the sub. And if they hook it up the way you described, you'll be controlling the sub and the speakers from the stock head unit.

Also, I would recommend getting at least your trunk dynamated. It makes a difference. I got my entire M35 dynamat'ed. The sound is VERY good for a stock system with only a sub and dynamat added. You can feel the bass in both front seats.

Dont think so. The Clean Sweep by JL does. Im going that route with 2 8s and all new door speaker. This Bose system is really pitiful!!!!! The Infinity system in my wifes R/T is two times better than this Bose crap. They need to stick to home audio. Leave the car audio to the pros.
