The issue I see is this, I do not know if the USDM harness will have the appropriate connectors for this control unit and the associated wires.

Where the hell did you get Fast that has Japanese cars? I know they are pretty tight with those discs, but I see that you have it on your computer?

I don't think that it is available to the public, I will look into it and let you know but I think it is propriatary software and for dealership personal.

Its not just VIP. There's a practical use for us apartment dwellers with narrow stalls.

Hey just wondering if I were to stumble on these mirrors would the original harness match up?

What kind of wiring am I looking at?

Has anyone else done this mod?

Would there be any chance of keeping the heated mirrors?

Is there such a switch that has the power folding mirrors and heater switch all in one?

Would it fit in the allocated space as the original switch does?

Any pictures of said switch?

I have auto folding mirrors on mine and as soon as I've finished working on the engine etc I'm going to hook the mirrors as well as the window and door locks to my alarm (Haven't fitted the alarm yet). The ridgey didge switch is that one shown above by the other Aussie bloke. I'd suggest using the pulse on your alarm (The same one used to control your power door locks) to flap the mirrors. A/market alarms usually have two different pulse lengths for different applications, so you'd probably use the longer pulse length in conjunction with a relay, or if you can find one... a window lift module.Having said all of that have you thought about the repercussions from constantly folding your mirrors in and out? Eventually wear and tear will cause the motors to fail.

Are the motors replaceable?

And I plan on using the factory alarm but thanks for the info.

Motors replaceable? I'm not sure... no doubt they'd last a long time anyway, it's just a possibility. I'm looking at buying some chrome President mirrors at the moment. If the temperature, rain and humidity drops long enough to go outside out of the aircon I'll see if I can take the triangular trim peice off the door to look at the wiring, if so I'll take a photo.

Not worth buying chrome mirrors in my opinion. But I read a post that from "RobertsnewQ" that said the harness was the same as was the connector.

What i might do is keep the switch in the glove box the heated switch that is, Then When and if i find some mirrors I will just use the heated mirror on the ones that fold in because I can see in the manual that they separte.

Hey on your air purifyer do you know how that works or is powered?

You not interested in trading for bin that takes it place in the USDM Q45's are you?

You could make your car USDM.

Just realised the door card needs to be removed before that trim piece... damn well made Japanese cars. Anyway here's a pic I took for my original thread about my car... you'll notice the switch the same as old mates to the right of the column.

IMO It would be worth buying the chrome mirrors to replace the body coloured ones... Just because I like chrome! As for swapping? I live in the 'Sunshine State' Queensland... No need for heated mirrors here!

Fixed the pic... as for the air purifier... I completely forgot it existed until you mentioned it... So I haven't even looked into that yet. What about the rear air con unit and rear stereo controls in the rear armrests, how do you work the a/c?

No idea, give it a try if you don't mind. But I only found out about it in Nissan FAST.

Wish i could get my hands on that too, I would have a hell of a Christmas.

You need your air purifier, I just need to ask to get it out of the way.

I wonder if there is a filter for it as well, if so that sucks because there would be a hard *** time of getting them.

I don't understand what you're saying.

But on the topic of retrofitting non stock yet stock parts, how does the auto dimming rear view mirror wire up?

Yea there are a couple of topics on adding a 1994 Q45 mirror to a 1990-1993 Q45, Just search.

But I was asking do you need the air purifier if you get it working?

If not do you want to trade me for it, I have rear parcel shelf (a little storage space) to trade.

Do you know if there is a filter for the air purifier?

Well... probably do since I smoke occasionally in the car (BAD BOOBOO, BAD!!) but it's a question as to if it works or not, I'll have to look closer into it. As for the rear parcel shelf, where is the storage space? My A/C unit is in the middle of the rear parcel tray...?

I have no idea how it works, But I found out from some place that they do have a Heated/Folding/Power mirror switch.

And I also found a place that may have the air purifier, The value of the car goes down if it was smoked in, Just kidding.

See this on adding the auto dimming mirror: zerothread?id=368001

Do you have a mirror?

My question in this is: are the folding mirrors a JDM stock option or were they offered in the USDM as well? If they were never offered in the USDM, then wouldn't the mirrors be opposite as far as viewing? By this I mean in US, the left/driver side is normal and the right/passenger is a little different seeing as how you are looking at it from 5 or so feet away. In the same instance, if you get JDM mirrors, the right/driver side would be the one made for the driver, and the left/passenger would have the different lens on it. Would that not be a little hard to get use to?

That's a really good point. The passenger mirror is convex in the US for wider viewing angle. I don't believe this is done outside North America, though. Maybe...

The actual reflector unit can be swapped for US parts, though, so it's not a big deal.

Yea but the lens or the actual mirror comes off, So I can replace them with my own mirror glass.

Is that what you mean?

Aww you beat me MoD.

My mirrors are both flat, no convex that I can notice. (JDM)

Hey can you explain the differn't modes of the switch for the power folding mirrors?

They can fold in when you shut off the car right?

Then they fold out when the car is turned on right?

ANd then there is a mode on the switch that always keep them from folding in?

I thought Q45 mirrors were already treated for dimming? Maybe not adaptive, but a permanent dim feature.

My door mirrors have that blueish tint to them that I noticed on European luxury sedans. I wish my interior rearview was the same.

While they don't actively dim, they are equipped with a dimming feature no? Not sure of the term, but the best description is "pre-dimmed"? As stated before, mine seem to have that blue tint that I've seen on Mercedes and BMW sedans. I've also noticed a difference in the intensity of the lamps from cars behind me when comparing the side mirror and the interior rear view.

Maybe I'll add the interior auto-dim mirror after I do something about my sunroof switch.

A picture and good one would go a long way for me.

But I thought of a great Idea, Why not hook up the mirrors to the Automaic Driver Positioner, That way when you insert the key in the ignition the mirror will pop out, the steering wheel will come down and the seat will come forward.

Only bad thing is that you will have to fold them in every time you go though the car wash.

Hey Aussi-Q45 can you take a picture of the mirrors folded in, I just want to see that they fold in all the way.

I hope I will stop thinking of idea's because they cost money. , Just kidding.

Welll i think its a great idea to have auto folding mirrors.. And it would be even better if it was chrome, i love chrome too!!! :-PAs for heated mirrors, i dont have that feature in my car i think. My car does NOT have the button for that, ill go look in 30 mins to make sure. Couple things i thought about. Some you all have mentioned, but i do want us to think about it. What if u need to park in a tight spot and u want to close one of the mirrors, how do u close it so u can back up into ur spot or pull into ur spot. When i open the doors, its the mirrrors that re about to hit something, not really the doors, so i need them closed before i turn the car off. Carwash incident, The car is in nuetral and going thru the carwash thingy, i need it to close while in nuetral.

So the idea of it closing by pushing the lock button on ur keyless remote sux!. Cause i need it sometimes while car is in motion.

I have a Viper 791xv alarm. Im not using my window roll up/down channels. Im sure i can hook it to that. Which i think would be better. Only problem is, i dont think those channels work while car is on. Having a button on dash would be nice but for those who dont have it, i suck! Im jealous of cadillac escalde having that feature, i think its neat. But i hate cadillacs.! So when someone does hook this up, i need to know.. And send me prices.. i may buy...
