Hey everybody, how's it going?

My 2006 M35 didn't come with navigation system, so I've googled for it, I found used components, they are the following;

1. Climate & Navigation Control Panel

2. Navigation DVD Player

3. Navigation Control Module

4. Navigation system Display Screen

Okay, so, here are the questions;

1. Will everything work normally?
2. Will the rear-view camera work as usual with car's body line assists?
3. Are they all Plug-&-Play?

If I'm missing something, please advise :dblthumb:

Those parts would seem to be the key components (I'm assuming). Do you have XM also? I would think this would be another component after installing an aux in audio and video device that plugs into the XM device and navigation screen.

I have the new updated Navi DVD and I prefer my phones navi way more over our cars. I hate how the screen locks out and loose all controls for any settings. I wonder if an aftermarket one would be easier/cheaper and a lot more effective. My 2cents.....I would not miss my navigation system. I missed my 07 Acura TL's though. All voice activated, touchscreen and controls to everything while moving. Maybe a dealer can help in what parts are needed??

EDIT: A friend of mine has a 2011 G37 without navigation also and I came across this company that retains all OEM functions with a Garmin style navi system. Shoot them a message on the ebay link below or give them a call.

You are all set. I did the same thing. It is an easy plug and play. I did this in less than an hour with my base. Also added the XM module in the trunk. The wiring is there for that, too.

Are ALL M's pre-wired for XM? I thought they weren't.

Is it necessary to install the XM?

Funny you should ask that Ilya because I was messing about with the different radio pre-sets last night and somehow I tuned to XM-1 which was like an advert station to tell users where different genres , talk radio, etc can be located.
I had no clue that this car had XM in it or what I pushed / turned to get to it. Isn't XM a service you have to enrill and pay to use?

The preview channel is free. But most of us who have XM capable radios don't actually have the XM module in the trunk. AND I was under the impression that most of the cars that didn't have the module, weren't pre-wired. I should get back there and look again...I would love to have XM for Area and BPM.

Me too ! I'm wondering if the dealer can tell me if my car has the unit pre-installed (I heard that they came new with a free subscriotion for a couple of months so maybe we DO have the unit). Actually, I would have no idea what to look for in the trunk and I hate to remove all the trunk lid pieces to see what if anything is in there. I'm hoping that all I will need to do is figure out what my radio 'code' is and then contact XM to subscribe and have it turned on. I'll let you know what I find out.

I'm guessing I'm not because I was able to install the USA Spec. PA15-NIS iPod Module which is for non-XM cars. PA15-INFI is for XM cars.

Let me know what you find.

It's not required, it's only needed if you want satelite radio.

I think all M35s are pre-wired for XM. Mine was. I bought the XM module on Ebay for about 75 bucks. Just pull down the trunk liner and you'll see the wiring harness and mounting bracket in the upper right corner. Just plug it in then call XM to initiate service.

GOOD NEWS, MATES !

If you can hear the XM chanel 1, you already have the unit installed ( or so I was told by the XM peeps - they also said most M's have the modules since 2005 and up).
Push your 'radio' button until you get to XM , use the tuner knob and go down 1 step to channel 0 and it gives you your specific radio ID#.
Jot that down, also fetch your car's VIN and call 1-888-601-6271 and tell them you are a potential customer and would like a 3-month trial to see if you are interested in becoming a subscriber.
I just did that and 5 min later I got 3 months free - was just in the garage blasting BPM and doing my I-pod dance LOL.
The only downside is that the NAV-Traffic service is not available on my existing module :cry: - if I want the 24/7 Nav Traffic I need to upgrade to a newer module. Now I have 3 months of BPM !! plus a gajillion more choices.
Oh my, they have CNN live as well ! and ...... BBC !
