Adding Intelligent cruise control - 02 Q45 ???

i was wondering if it was possible to ad the "Intelligent cruise control sensor" being asthough it didnt come on my vehicle which i found odd because i have the premium pakage, if so what all would i need ???

It will probably cost around $1.5k with labor and dealer fees but it's possible.

The intelligent cruise control was not available early in the 2002 model year.

thanks guys, but im really good with diy things you think i could go to a junk yard find all that i would need and maybe try install it myself or is it more complex than that

I think it's well beyond any DIYers capabilities. Pretty sure it'll be linked through the EMS or something..

The electronics changed substantially with the 2003 model year and even more later.

as an example, when I went to the 2005 headlamp for my 02F50, the LT section for the 05 was several undered pages longer. one reason was the 'automatic light leveler. we had a switch on the dash for the 02.

YOu can look at the section for the itelly cruise and compare the pages for the dumb cruise

hmmmm i wonder if they make them aftermarket so that it would work with the factory system ... i kno thats a stretch lol


and another thing whats this ITB02-048 update all about and is it somthing thats coverd under warranty at the dealer or i would have to pay to get done or is it even really worth messing with ????

I don't remember what type of car it was on, but I remember reading complaints about cars equipped with intelligent cruise control suddenly slowing down if one came close to a tractor trailer truck in another lane. Maybe someone who actually has it on their car can chime in and say if they had any problems with it.

Do not waste your time, my dad had this on his LS460 and it was WAY too timid. Spend your time and energy on something else for your car, I think this one is a waste of time and money for something you will not use very often.
