Adding DCA, full speed range cruise, farward collision warning to 2008 EX?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

These are about the only improvements made to the 2009 over the 2008. Anyone know how easy it would be or if it would even be technically possible to add these features into a 2008 EX that already has the tech package? I wonder if Infiniti would do it? It would most certainly be cheaper than trading it in for a 2009. Then there's the upgraded Nav with weather, streaming bluetooth and USB port for the 2010. I wonder if I can get them to add any of that? It would certainly be nice to replace this archaic IPOD port that doesn't even work for the latest Apple devices. If anyone has any info, post it here.btw, anyone know if the new nav systems actually let you switch albums while driving without having to scroll through every last song? lol

Unfortunately when technology is changed they do not usually allow older models to be refitted. The new ICC technology, DCA, IBA, and FCW all require a new segment of the CAN system that would not be easily added to a vehicle. Although I do not know how the system will be layed out in the EX but the FX50 ,that had these technology last model year, has a LAN BUS connector to divert vital signals to and from the various control units without getting in the way of engine operations.

When it comes to audio and AV upgrades the NAV traffic seems like something that could be added but I assume there is some reason why it would not be an option. The iPod terminal that only works with older models has driven me nuts since 07. I had to actually keep my old broken second edition nano to check ipod related complaints, despite switching to a Zune several years ago. I think it is past due that they add a standard usb port that uses the standard technology to interface and play correctly without having to buy an Apple. RCAs work well but given the drivers audio stage feature why would I want to have to input sloppy analog signals into a higher end audio unit? A couple of days ago I was taking the 370Z convertible new model online course and they were covering the new tech features and they pointed out the new Nav unit will have weather, Zagat, the usb interface and streaming audio via bluetooth. As well as a few more small touches. At first I was a little dismayed that this would be coming out in a Nissan first that is not the way things should be. If it starts with the EX, G and FX but with little to no fanfare I think that would really help them at least have the image to two separate brands. Streaming audio is something I use all the time and my three year old Parrot unit has it. I don't know who makes their technology decisions but they always seem to have something that comes out and is already old technology. I'm sure it all comes down to contracts and money at the end of the day.

All of the weather, restaurant and traffic related things require XM and certain digital data receiving capabilities. Now to speculate for a minute- maybe the merger of the only satellite options had something to do with them holding off on adding this, maybe they were waiting to test the HDD AV system before loading it with goodies, maybe they want everyone to want a new model over the old model for the slight improvements. Who knows?

The reason the ipod connector doesn't work on iphones and newer models is all Apple. They switched their pinout without informing the companies who are using their licensed technology. Just another reason I don't like Apple. PCs may not be problem free but they still run almost every aspect of our lives.

You don't need to scroll down all the songs, you just need to hold the button to jump to next (or previous) album.
