Adding an extra DOME light... up front..

Is it possible to add a new dome light up front.. Like right above the rear view mirror?

yeah why not? try hooking up a couple led's (each with their own resistor in series) and run it parallel to the normal dome light OR you can just extend the normal dome light to the front and cluster up more LED's in different directions to get better dispersion of the light around the cabin.

One of the few things, and its only a few, that I hate about my 240. Horribly mounted, incredibly dim, dome light.

I might run some wires through the head liner, and there is an area where you can install a good dome light with switches right over the rear view mirror in my hatch..

So, I will look around to see if I can find some dome lights that I can just drop in, then make a write up, unless someone else wants to first...

on my car, there's a little hump for installing that, if your car has a factory pop-up sunroof, that's where it would actually be!

Yep, moon roof is what I have, and right towards the front of that is a hump...

i have some!..they dont move and they are way dim

i think i'll just rig up a switch panel to go over it and tap into the wiring for leds

i'll feel like im flying a jet with the switches above me : )

That is about where I am talking about..

I am going to buy a maxima inset domelight thing, and see if I can wire it up to work, if I can then I will be making the hole and mounting it :-)

ya my 92 hatch has 2 little sex/dome lights up by the rear view mirror, but my 90 hatch doesnt? i guess it was a later option. you could go to a junkyard and pull off the stock dual dome lights off of a newer hatch...

Why not use the map lights as dome light too?But then? how I can wire them to turn on when the dome light but prevent the dome light from turning on then the map light is powered on?

There are several wires going to the rear dome.. Ill just solder or whatever a few wires to the front..

The constant power, to turn on and off, then if the switch is on the door open, light up position, then run a wire into the lights themselves, bypassing the switches..

Eclipse mirrors have lights built into them, and some other cars (usually convertibles) do as well.

Just got the light.. I will wire it up to the rear one to turn on when the door is open, and the constant power to the switches :-)

I have not had a chance to post an update yet due to finals, I do have the light, and the wiring etc... I will unhook my battery, hook the light up to the rear light and insure that all of that is working, then take off the head liner, make the areas to cut, and pop it in :-)

Ill try to do that before I fly to Germany on Dec 13th, otherwise it will have to wait until after Jan 6th when I come back...
