I know this subject has been discussed a bit in this forum but I'd like to get down to specifics. What I want to do is keep the entire OEM Bose system (head unit and powered speakers) but install an amp for a sub. I understand that a converter is needed between the head unit and the amp. How is the converter connected to a head unit that doesn't have any outputs? Is this where everything gets powered (converter and amp)? How can the Bose head unit control the sub? I can get an Alpine amp that has 40 watts at 2 ohms with 2 subs and 150W at 1ohm bridged for about $200 bucks with some good subs. Would this give me enough bass with the sub enclosure in the trunk? Sorry about the length of the questions but I really do not know diddly about this subject.

Thanks for any responses,

Len

Scroll down most of the way in this thread and look for the info from Simmsled. Wes is in the process of doing the same thing.
