Hey, welcome to NICO!

Not sure about the subs (seems like someone did a bazooka or something else awful), but you do need to read the posts by TexasOil to enable your active to perform up to par.

Yes you can... and thats all you need for a completely better sound. My car sounds better than my friends 2006 Mercedes E500.

All you need is a simple HiLo Converter also called a Line-Input Converter. I split my rear speaker wires so it goes to the stock speakers AND the hilo converter.

With the HiLo converter you can connect it to your stock speaker wires and then RCA wires on the other side.... those RCA wires connect to your AMP.

Then comes the Remote Wire on the amp. It will trigger the amp ON when it connects to a power source. I split my trunk CD changer power wire and connected it to the remote wire. Amazingly it works even when the CD changer is off.

I have a 15" Solo Baric L5 and it sounded great with the sub turned so low you can't see it move. Unfortunately I had to take it out after I lowered my car. The springs aren't built well enough to handle 75lbs in the trunk.
