Can you add the Nissan ABS feature to a non-ABS car? What's the cost and is it worth the hassle?

This would require the ABS Car equipped BCM or if possible to flash yours. Anything that involves our BCM will be pricey and this does not include the rest of the parts required.

Are you having a hard time stopping?

Not really, it just snowed here this morning.

Just wanted to know if it's possible. I think getting winter tires is a better option though.

Winter tires are awesome they give you so much more confidence in the snow. traction is superb, I had the Bridgstone Blizzaks

I felt like a 4x4 in the Snow I could conquer any snowy patch

Anything's possible with the right amount of money. It just depends on what you're willing to spend and how much it's worth to you.

I'd just get a set of winter tires and drive carefully. I never had any problems with non ABS cars while driving in snow.

Last I got quoted for one abs sensor at the knuckle was $375 for an st185. That'll give you a general idea how much adding an abs system to your car will cost.

Sounds like more trouble that it's worth. Just wanted some feedback and information, thanks!

Yes, get some snow tires!

They do help out a lot in the winter

I wasn't aware that Versa's don't come with ABS. I thought that was something that MOST new cars came with..

Do all models not have them, or is it just the base and S models that dont?

My 2008 Versa SL Sports pkg. came without abs and I love not having it!

Snow tires are awesome, I have on Michelin X Ice II studless Ice and snow tires. they are worth every penny.

No ABS here either and loving it. Never ever had a problem driving/braking without ABS on all my cars I've owned. In my experience, having good sticky tires make a bigger difference than ABS. Its real purpose is to wear the tire out evenly anyway when you do a massive hard brake and will not allow you to lock up your tires.

All is great until you get yourself into a panic situation where slamming on the brakes and trying to steer yourself away from a collision is all you can do. I actually had ABS save my life on the D.C. Beltway several years ago in my 91 Acura and never went back to non-ABS since. Don't have to use it everyday but sure is nice knowing its ready when the situation is now.

Ive had alot of situations where having abs would have caused me a to hit what im i was avoiding(ie half an inch from a boy and his dog running into the road while im turning, had i not been able to lock up individual tires to cause the over/understeer around that kid i would have had there blood on my hands). If you can make your foot your abs your far far better off, there are always situations that require unorthodox solutions, best bet is not to panic even if you think you cant get out of your trouble, because as soon as you do, your doomed.but anyways versa's a beast in the winter with good tires, live in buffalo ny so i can get a foot or two oer night randomly and 2/3 winters ive had it i ran the oem tires and still had few problems, with snows you can just back out of your buddies yard witha foot and half of snow from over night and make his dad go "dang...."

I have to second this. It was the opposite for me... My 2000 Altima didn't have ABS and I spun out on I-4 in Orlando after having to avoid hitting someone's car parked on the fast lane (he had ran out of gas) just past a blind curve. The Alty got totaled when I smacked headfirst into the jersey barrier at ~30mph.
