Hello forum, I am new to a Z32 TT and want to add a Turbo Timer. I appreciate your opinion which one is the easiest to connect to my 1990. I have installed and familiar with the Turbo Timer TK-TYPE0 and plan to use it unless there is a better option.
Thanks
Ron

Your Z32 doesn't need a turbo timer unless you want to have it for the ehrm "cool factor" the turbos on a Z32 are watercooled so unless you plan on running the piss out of the car and immediately getting out there is no need for it. Driving for 5 minutes after a hard run is plenty to get the turbos back to normal temps.

Thank you for the input. Even though Intercooled it is my understanding there is value in the turbo timer. I have a Lotus with an Garret Turbo and Intercooled yet it remains highly recommended to let the engine run 1 min before shutting it down. I hope you are correct and I do not need to add one.

I don't think you understand the stock turbos on the z32. As Nolimit stated, these turbos have coolant line running to them as well as oil for lube/cool. The coolant does a great job at cooling the turbos unlike oil cooled turbos only. Intercooler cooled air is another topic.

Understood. OK thank you I do not plan to work the car hard and it is all stock so it sounds like I do not need to add one.
Thanks

Looking it up, it seems that your Lotus has watercooled turbos as well which means that the turbo timer isn't required on that car either. It doesn't really hurt anything but there is really no point unless like I said the car gets shut off immediately after running hard.

On a different note, the Esprit V8 has always been one of my dream cars, I think they are beautiful vehicles. Post up some pics of your S4.

I have an S4s (small s for Sport). This little s makes a big difference, 50HP in fact plus much more. Only 367 were made and it is quicker in 0-60 (4.1") than the V8's (4.3, some tests reports indicate they are the same some show the S4s quicker) making it the most sought after Esprit.

I installed a Turbo timer after blowing a head gasket and likely not related, all Lotus S4 Turbo people recommend a 1 minute cool-down before shutting it down. I do hear the same recommendation for the Z32 TT.

I have never been able to figure out how to add a photo to a forum and still cannot do so in this forum.

Cooldown would be driving under normal operation, as I said its not going to make much of a difference if any driving out of boost vs being parked. Who is it in the Z32 world thats recommending you to run a turbo timer? this is the first I've heard of such a recommendation, in the end its not going to hurt anything but really it unnecessary, if it gives you peace of mind then by all means. As for the Esprit, I've always wanted the V8 because increasing boost would make it a monster plus you cant beat the sound of a V8. If I ever go turbo 4 again it'll be another subie.
