I just purchased this rear spoiler for my '07 Sedan... I will be installing myself this weekend (Hopefully with the help of Gwoods????)

Has anyone installed a spoiler themselves??? Any words of wisdom before I approach my car with a drill???? Wish me luck!

Dave

Yikes!!! I could never get myself to approach my G with a drill or any other tool that could do some damage working on the exterior (engine, completely different). My words of wisdom would be put the drill down...just kidding.

Triple check everything before you drill cuz once that baby hits your car...well you know. Use an electric drill if you can, if its battery make sure its charged all the way, it'll make it easier. Also, you might want to use water as lube when you're drilling the hole--I don't know if that's common practice for this task but in a metal shop it is.

God speed!

Make sure to use masking tape where you plan on drilling. It will help prevent cracking. Also, don't push to hard, let the drill do the work...you don't want a dent!

Take a deep breath, and get' her done!

Thanks for the advice Joe... I was planning on taping the drill spot as I was concerned about chipping... there's an instructions video with the spoiler so I'm going to review that FRAME BY FRAME until I'm confident it will go smoothly... I was planning on doing a write up for you guys to let you know about the experience (with pics)... It should arrive at my house in UPS today so I'll hopefully work on it this weekend, but I really want GWOODS to come to my house as I need another man's opinion and input when I do this. Startin' to get a little nervous... but if I think for a moment that it won't look right, I'll abort the mission before I do any drilling! Any other advice would be appreciated... or at least some words of encouragement...

Thanks,Dave

It doesn't look like UPS will deliver it by this weekend anyway, so Thursday will work perfectly! I'm not going to attempt the install without you and Tyler as I want as much input as possible! Shoot my cell phone or email and we can hook up on Thursday. Have a great weekend and enjoy this GORGEOUS sunny weather we're getting!

RN: to answer your question... It is a $425+ option installed from the dealer, but I got it from an infiniti parts distributor online for $115 shipped! Definately worth the savings! I'll be sure to keep you all posted.

Check your email...

I'm not going to add the link to the public Nicoclub forum at this time because:

1) I respect the marketing/sales staff at Nicoclub.com and do not wish to promote a product that is not Nicoclub.com approved.

2) I have not yet received the product and cannot (at this time) certify my satisfaction with this product.

3) I do not endorse a product that would not truly benefit it's consumer. I would never put my name behind a product that is not of the highest quality. Until I receive and install, then I'm not sure of the overall experience. Purchase at your own risk as I have.

That being said... are there any metal shop people out there that recommend a particular type drill bit that would be the ideal match for drilling into painted metal? Carbide tip? Standard drill bit?

I value your opinions and input!

I just realized what a poor host I am... Please accept this as a formal invitation to AZHITMAN to join us in installing this spoiler... I'm sure you have a very busy schedule, but if you live in North Scottsdale (and you have the time), you are also VERY welcome to come by my house and provide your input when GWOODS and I install this spoiler... I would be honored to grill burgers and scratch my paint with the CEO himself... email me for the security gate code if you are interested... we can make it an informal nicoclub.com event! Thanks,Dave

I am with Soul. I keep thinking to buy one and the next day nah I think it looks better without it. I can't make up my mind.

If it is a drilled one make sure to use some touch up paint at the hole you drill before assemble it. Save you having rust starting from that pint. If it is a 3M tape one then you are good to go.

I installed mine myself, no prob, and I'm a chic! so you should be good... just double and triple check your alignment. when you're connecting the wire for the light, make sure you pull the fuse for the light, so that you don't blow it. Mine blew, I think because I still had the rear window brake light connected. I didn't have the car on, but it still blew. and if your brake lights don't work, the car won't let you get out of Park, at least in the '06... good luck!

I don't have any experience doing this, but this is my idea.

Get some tacky putty or poster tape and use that prior to drilling. Once you've got good fitment (from all angles), use one of those crayon pencils to mark the outline of the contact areas for the spoiler. It will provide another reference marking.
