Adding 2010+ Navi system to 2008 ex35 navi?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi Guys, im new to the forum but ive been playing around with my ex for a while now.

I have done some searching and it seems im not the only one annoyed with the crappy 2008 navi system setup.

I was wondering if anyone has tried sourcing the parts to swap in the 2010+ system into the ex and what it would entail. The 2010 seems to be much more updated and practical with the nice tech features.

From what I could find, the center heat controls + radio + new screen would be needed. Im just wondering if the rest of the system would accept the existing cameras, antennas, plugs etc. if its just the center console + screen that has to be upgraded, that wouldnt be too bad of an investment to get the updated music box and functions.

Any info would be appreciated so i dont have to rip apart my setup.

Ive been also toying with the idea of finding someway to get rid of our monitor and making the stock system put out a video out source ... that way it could be used as a video input into a better system like a DNX9980 or something. Best of both worlds. I did that in my 350z, but it was a lot simpler without the integrated heat controls to just relocate the screen in the stock navi position.

Also, lovin the forum

Welcome !! Glad to have some new members showing up!!

I think android phones have the best navigation right now. (My EX doesn't have nav either, but I don't really miss it.)
Good luck with the project though! I took mine all apart when I added a wireless back-up camera and it really wasn't too hard if you take your time.
