i think that just tells you if you have low oil pressure.

If you have too much oil (how much over are you?), that will lead to an increase in oil pressure. You don't want too much pressure. I would drain some oil and get in the proper range ASAP.

How much more do you think you put in? A little bit won't hurt it'll just burn the exccess off. The oil light comming on is odd, I thought it only came on due to low pressure, tho I suppose it could also come on for high pressure to tell you you're about to blow your seals.

"A tiny bit" wont make a difference. Check the level and if it is well over the full mark then drain some out.

Oil light didnt come on, the Check Engine light came on, I only added maybe 1/5 a quart of it, to me thats a tiny bit, but the second after I added it and started up the engine the light came on.

Pull the error codes from the ECU. See what the problem actually is.

As far as too high a pressure, I don't see how too much oil would cause too much pressure. The oil is picked up by the line, through the pump and when you reach max pressure, a relief valve opens up and bypasses some of the excess oil. Kind of similar to a wastegate.

its a 89 240sx fastback, no recent work, just bought it a few weeks ago recently. Although the engine light did come on last week for about 2 days, then just went off suddenly, I havnt taken it in to run a diagnostic on it yet, but probably will. Also when I added the oil, engine seemed to make a valve clicking noise or something, not exactly sure but like the more you accelerate the more clicking it did.

What oil are you using? Did the car have regular motor oil or was it synthetic. If your using a synthetic and dont know what was used before flush the motor and start over with synthetic like mobil or valvoline or somthing but dont use an additive they dont work well with engine. Theres a post somewhere on the form that was posted within a couple days ago.

OIf course engine lighst can come on for all sorts of things some of which aren't such a big deal, still you wanna have it checked out.

.2 quart of oil overfilled will not have anything to do with the MIL, nothing. Nor will it increase the oil pressure or burn off. If the oil is overfilled by too much, lets say 3/4 to 1 full quart, the crankshaft will beat it and aerate it. Thats bad. Ticking valvetrain and spun bearings scan result. The engine may intermittantly smoke from the excess oil because its getting by the rings. Bottom line is, if its overfilled drain it.
