ok guys, i just got my car back form nissan from having its maintainance tune-up. they did a 100,000 mile tune and replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, and some other things. anyways, the bottom line is i felt a definate gain. wasnt like 100hp or anything but it was noticable. could the new fuel filter have had something to do with that? kinda of a dumb question, i guess...but i was just curious.

two things may have happened, you gained back maybe 5hp lost due to old/work parts.

or nothing has changed and it's all in your head, placebo effect, you know.

The fuel filter may have caused a restiction in the fuel delivery, or you could have had one or more fouled plugs. I all depends on when the last time you had those things replaced, and what they've experienced in that time.

Overheating or rich/lean conditions could have fouled the plugs; or the fuel filter may have gotten clogged due to bad gas/storage tanks.

No real way to tell unless you had before and after fuel pressure and power balance tests done on a computer.
