ok guys i currently have a apex'i N1 turbo muffler w/ custom piping and i want to quiet it down some with tryin not to loose horse power. so with the cusotm piping i have no resonator, so if i take it to a muffler shop and get one put in will i loose hp or is there any performance resonators i can add. also i just got a hs header and i was thinking the increased exaust flow might quiet down the large turbo muffler

info pleasethanks!

Is the custom piping the same size as stock piping? If not I would speculate little to no hp loss.

Yes you might lose a little HP but it will be quieter ad you will get some torque back. That's the tradeoff with exhaust tuning, which is very sensiteive on NA cars.

No the custom piping is mandrel bent 2-1/4 in piping. So you guys dont think their will be much power loss. Is there any performance resonators out there.

There will be power gain if you do 2.5 in piping, over 3.

you could put a glass pack somewhere before the muffler, they are strait through flow so you wouldnt lose that much power and you can get whatever length you want depending on how quiet you want it. Ive seen this done many times, its very inexpensive, allied makes a good glasspack, better quality than those cherry bomb ones rednecks like to put on old trucks or muscle cars

Why would you lose torque in the first place? A well designed exhaust system can see an increase in torque without a loss of torque anywhere.

And torque and HP have a very close relationship. If you lost HP, you would lose torque at that RPM.
