I just bought a 94 Q45, and love the car. But I need a CD changer that will work with the factory Bose head unit. Everyone I asked before told me to replace the head unit with a VERY pricey one. The stereo sounds great, and the Bose unit has CD controls on it, so why not just add a changer? So back to the original question,Which changer would work?

Thanks,Brian

Go to http://www.installer.com Then call the number. Ask for James. He is one of my co workers and he is the only person crazy enough to jack with a bose system. If you want to know call him.

I have a factory changer at home that is collecting dust and I would be willing to sell. You would need to buy an installation kit if you wanted to professionally mount it in the trunk as I don't have one.

I have the Clarion CV737 that is available as an OEM option through the dealer. They charge $300+ for the changer alone. Your car is already pre-wired for the changer with the connector located on the passenger's side of the trunk behind the wheel well. E-mail me off-line if you are interested, have any questions or want to know more about the OEM changers that will work with your car.

If you do decide to change the head unit there are affordable ones from Alpine. I have a 94 Q too and am changing the head unit (Alpine or close) with a matching changer. May have to change the mid's and high's depending on output from the head unit.

I went back and checked my records ... I installed a SONY 10 disk changer and hardwired directly to the Bose system with no problems and excellent results. No head change requied

Did your Sony have a lot of skipping issues?

I had absolutley no issues of any kind. Sound was great. Install was on the ceiling of the trunk area in frount of the lid. Worked really good. I had a small lcd screen mount behind the shifter that displayed the disck and track along with controlling unit. I had it about 4 years with no issues at all.

Here are the pin-outs for the Bose H/U. I've made an adaptor with female RCA inputs to the DIN unit and added a Sony changer... Works great! You may need to adjust the line level some, but otherwise works great. I've never verified the info about the 8-pin units, but it came from the same place as the 5-pin

Put a NEO MP3 and V1 in the latest Q... we'll see how the NEO holds up...

I've bought this Sony CD changer (see link) to install in my 94Q, it should arrive next week. Can anyone tell me where the plugs in the trunk are? I've pulled the passenger side panel and found the power antenna motor and some cables, but nothing has a label on it.

Any help would be great.

The earlier Q's had the CD changer mounted near the right rear speaker (hanging under the package shelf). Check up in there.

If all else fails, swing by the dealer - They can probably fish it out for you for little to nothing.
