I have a 2001 QX4. I am not a car guy. I am looking to add some performance to it. I was looking on eBay and this looked good.

My friend said it is complete BS. What can I add to it to make it have more power?

You must be knew here. Welcome :)
I would also say its complete BS.

Intake and custom made exhaust are pretty much it. I recommend the k&n intake.

Thanks!

My friend recommended me the K&N intake as well. Is there anything else we can do?

Also, what about in general? I have it tinted and with a remote starter. I also have a grille guard with 4 HID lights in it. My brother is going to add his flip out TV into it and he will put one of my Xbox 360s inside it. What else can we do to make it into an awesome truck? (I'm a 20 year old college student so I'd love to make it look awesome)

Here are 2 pix of it.

I couldn't agree more. A relatively heavy SUV isn't exactly a prime candidate for performance modifications, either.

A cold air intake is a fun and relatively cheap investment, makes the trucks engine sound a lot more powerful and "fun" atleast. I wouldnt do any much more performance mods than that though

My husband always says the golden rule is, DONT MOD YOUR DAILY DRIVER

Lol well I disagree with the comments above because if you drive something daily you should at least customize it for you to enjoy it everytime you drive, but dont get too crazy if you cannot afford repairs. Here is a list of mods you can do to personalize your car:

Get the K&N intake and after here are some options:

1. add a cool stereo system with subwoofers (full-sound-system-install-lots-of-photos-t518024.html)

2. paint your rims with plasti dip (cheap and effective) going-to-plasti-dip-my-20s-t552919.html

3. Custom exhaust system (adds nice tone plus a little horsepower) post6217811.html?hilit=Exhaust#p6217811

I cant remember any more at the moment :|

My brother is a mechanic so he fixes all the cars and trucks at our house lol.

Can someone send me a link for a K&N intake?

I just wanna add some things to it so it fits more for me. I love music but I don't want to add a system to it. Reason being is that I like to chill in my truck in the summer time. I bring the seats in the back and move it forward and go lay back in my truck. It's amazing, trust me lol.

I am not into rims much as well. My brother has it for his 99 Tahoe and his 01 regal.

All I did was buy a $10 MAF adapter off ebay and got a cheap cone filter for mine. The performance increase was little but it did respond quicker and feel less sluggish. The sound increase was unreal. You can hear the butterfly valves open in the intake at 5,000.

Keep in mind the fuel filter was quite a few years old in this video. Truck now reaches 6,500 before shifting no problem.

My filter was purchased at my local Canadian Tire and is better quality than the one from eBay. This one should do just fine.

what do you mean it reaches 6500 no problem? Why does that happen now? I ask because after getting my transmission rebuilt it only shifts to 6000 even if I use the "manual mode". Before I could make it go up to 6500

The fuel filter was so damn dirty that it was literally holding the truck from reaching 6,500. Now that I've tightened my throttle cable and replaced the filter it hits 6,500. Make sure your throttle cable is tight and has no slack. I also wasn't reaching 100% throttle when I was flooring it from inside. Now I do. Just grab the cable from under the hood(Not the Cruse Control cable) and see if there is any slack. If there is any, loosen the nut and tighten it!

If you adjust the accelerator wire, you need to adjust the cruise wire as well. See instructions on FE-3 of the FSM; instructions for the cruise wire are the same, except you need to back the adjusting nut .5 to 1 turn instead of 1.5 to 2.0 turns as with the accelerator wire.

my fuel filter is new (changed about 4 months ago). Can you post picture of the cable?

not too sure but if you want to tint your front windows do not go lower than 35%. Either 40% or 35%
I have 35% and it looks great and I can easily see (but I adapted because at first it was a little weird lol)
