Hi - first post - new Altima owner (Accord was totaled). I have a 2012 2.5S with the basic audio package (non-Bose, with no steering wheel controls).
I'm waiting for a new head unit to arrive (Pioneer AVH 3400BH). This unit has bluetooth built in (I think), so I was hoping to add steering wheel controls to control the bluetooth for hands-free calling.
I've read write-ups on adding the audio controls to a base steering wheel (here:
how-to-add-radio-steering-wheel-control ... l#p4859440). And, I've read in various places that if you order the part that has the bluetooth control buttons, it will cause the button controls to get mixed up.
However, I haven't been able to find anything yet that says whether or not I can add the OEM steering wheel control with the bluetooth buttons and use that to control a new aftermarket head unit's bluetooth. Basically, to have the same or similar functionality as if I had an Altima that came with the call buttons on the steering wheel.
Is this possible? Is there a simpler way? My hope is that I can order the OEM steering wheel control part with all the whistles and bells and wire that into the head unit, maybe using an AXXESS control unit or whatever's required.
Thanks!
