If it's leaking under the head nearest the #4 cylinder on the exhaust side, re-loosen the bolts and torque them in sequence to 86psi. What washers are you guys using with your ARP studs? I hope this fix your leak.c-rad wrote:But, before everyone is like "OMG!" I don't trust the torque wrench I used at all. It was my friends old Advance Auto Parts special. So tomorrow my friend is bringing by his craftsman so I can retorque them. I HOPE that solves it. Otherwise I dunno why it would leak.
Yeah, thats where it is leaking, and that's exactly what I was planning on doing. I am using the washers that came with the studs. Stupid $hit.boost_boy wrote:If it's leaking under the head nearest the #4 cylinder on the exhaust side, re-loosen the bolts and torque them in sequence to 86psi. Don't use the washers that came with the ARP studs. The nissan ones are the ones you want to use. Don't ask me why as I don't feel like trying to answer it, just take my advice and trust me on this one.c-rad wrote:

WTF? Ordering those damn things will take forever and will probably cost me like $40 (the way Nissan charges out the *** for stuff like that). Wish I kept the originals now...boost_boy wrote:Don't use the washers that came with the ARP studs. The nissan ones are the ones you want to use. Check out the other ARP thread Dee made... I am sure its because I only preloaded the studs and never retorqued them. I'll let you guys know tomorrow evening what the deal is.rico05 wrote:Why in the hell would a freshly prepped CA have the same leak as my (and others) 50k old setups? Can someone explain to me why this is a problem issue for these motors?
I know in my case, the stock hg had a sizeable crack (no signs of detonation, and the exhaust valves were clean) in the area of my first leak, and now....everyone has the same problem area. WTF?

And the stock gear works for me as well. I think the problem with the studs are that you guys may have the wrong part # as well.rico05 wrote:But see, what if you are tunning stock head studs? There should be no reason to heat cycle them or anything. And in all reality, the stock gear should be fine for me (and for most of us).
Mr Boost, can you e-mail me, got a few questions. [email protected] PM function on this board right?boost_boy wrote:And the stock gear works for me as well. I think the problem with the studs are that you guys may have the wrong part # as well.
