Can I replace factory installed plain sideview mirrors with heated sideview mirrors?

Most likely you will need to run new wires from the new mirror. It will be cheaper for you to buy aftermarket heating elements and stick them behind the original mirrors.

Can the plain side view mirrors on my 2014 Rogue SV be replaced with heated mirrors?

only if the option exists from the factory. but you would be talking about shelling out some money for the install and possible additional wiring job that it would require.

I'm thinking about adding heated mirrors to my Rogue. From other discussions, I've read that in vehicles that come with them from the factory, the mirrors turn on via the rear defrost. If I install the heated mirrors, can I just wire them into the switch for the rear defrost?

I already read this and it doesn't answer my question.

It's an open discussion on the topic of adding the heated mirrors, so your question belongs in this thread.

I'm new to Rogues so can't answer your question directly but do you already have electrically adjustable mirrors?

If so, the Rogue is likely pre-wired for heated mirrors. Many cars are since if they are running cabling there anyway, it is only a single additional wire and cheaper for the build to have a single harness. In that case all you would need to do is buy the new heated mirrors and swap them out with the old ones. No other changes and they will turn on when the defrost is on. I've done this in other vehicles in the past. Again I'm new to Nissan but with my Toyota, you could buy the mirrors from Toyota already painted at the factory.

I do have motorized mirrors. That would be excellent if the wire is there. I wonder if I can make the assessment without removing the mirror.

I took a look at some of the wiring diagrams. It's just a guess but it looks like they may have one harness for normal cars and one for surround view rogues (the mirrors use different connectors with different pinouts). Again, not 100% but if you want heater mirrors it would be worth trouble to pull one off and compare.

The other thing I noted was that there is a relay for the heated mirrors. It is likely that you have an empty spot where you will need to buy and plug in a relay. Check your engine fuse box.

I'll have to dig in and see what is in the vehicle. I came across a wiring digram that shows the defogger and heated mirrors use the same relay. I don't know what years this covers, though.

It looks like the relay is located in the dash someplace. Possibly by the fuse block.

On the fuse block there are 3 wire harnesses. Would those be all the outputs from the block?

After finding the factory service manual on this site, I have been able to answer my own questions.

The relay is on the back of the fuse block in the passenger compartment. I was able to identify the pin positions on the wire harness coming from the fuse block for the heated mirrors. There is no wiring in that position So I will have to provide my own.

Has anyone inserted wires into a harness before?
