alright... quick question for anyone that might be able to toss a little insight my way

i keep buying brake pads for my 91 nx2000 (non ABS)... the last set was EBC green stuff's... i cross referenced the part number from both the vendor and on ebc's site directly... and the pads are too small... this is about the 4th time i've had this happen (had an incident up in nyc where i dropped a pad due to some meat head putting SE-R rotors on the car before i bought it spent 2 days trying to find pads that fit)

so now im chasing down pads again as my fronts are getting worn, and i dont want to keep pissing away money on the wrong pads, esspecaialy since im looking for something with a little better bit then the local pep boys has to offer... has anyone run into anything like this before?

You need to buy pads for the "ABS" version. Give Greg Vogel a call @ gspecperformance.com. He should be able to set you up with whatever you wish.

the abs version had a taller pad?

thats whats messin me all up... im used to the abs and non-abs versions of cars not changing the size of the brake caliper... but i keep ending up with brake pads literaly 1/2 to 3/4 of inch too short for the anchors...

im not having any luck getting to a web page for Gspec... it seems maybe im the only nissan head who doesnt know these guys are anyway lol, is thier website down? or is there an email or a phone number to chase greg vogel down at?

and thanks for the help! this little problem was getting old fast lol

If you do a "whois" lookup on "gspecperformance.com", you'll see his information there - not sure if it's current but it's there.

Ok, apparently the website is now gspec.com, but that isn't working either. I'm trying to get in touch with him.

Back to the pad issue. When ordering pads in the US for the nx2000 pads, most shops/stores get the pads mixed up. So your best bet is to tell them it is the ABS version.

Another option is to run pads from 90-92 Eclipse/Talon front pads. Hawk or Ferodo. http://www.essexparts.com/

I will post the information on Greg when I learn what is up with his site. I know he is still in business though.

The EBC pads are not well liked, I do know that much. So it is definitely time to try something different.

Just for reference sake, when ordering pads from anyone, refer to the FMSI (Frictional Materials Standard Institute) for the AD22 brakes(nx2000) is D549. The AD18 brakes which are the smaller nx brakes is D509. The eclipse/Talon pad is D484, which will work in the nx2000 brakes.

Your last option is to order OEM pads from Nissan, they will work well enough for a street pad.

*don't under any circumstances run the Hawk Blue pads on the street*

i've never gotten the chance to try any of them on any cars in the past... but i do know the shop i used to work at pushed the hawks over the EBC's... but i never knew if it got a deffinite answer if it was because of a preference thing or because tire rack sold them and we were a tire rack installer lol

i was thinking about going with the hawk pads... at this point the set of EBC's i have look like they fit an se-r so im still not set on one or the other... and am deffinetly open to suggestions... im just looking for something with good bite, fade resistance, and street oriented operating temperatures...
