I just helped my friend/ co-worker buy a 2000 Acura TL (225 hp, 0-60 7.2, 1/4 Mile: 15.5 ). we have always had a friendly competion with our cars. we used to race from time to time in a joking manner, my explorer sport vs his lexus RX 300 (I always won). He hated that my FAR cheaper domestic car beat his lexus!

My question is, what is the standard time for 0-60 and 1/4 mile for a 1994 Q45 ( if memory serves me right it was 278 hp, 0-60: 7.2, 1/4 Mile: 15.4)

reason I ask is should I race him from a standstill or a roll.. I need to maintain my supremacy! LOL.. ( oh. and I have a stillen exhaust , if that means anything!)

Mind you.. this is just for watercooler bragging rights. funny thing is my other co-worker just bought a brand new c320.

it states: (0-60: 7.1, 1/4 Mile: 15.x @ xx.x?and another co-worker wants in too. with an acura integra (0-60 7.1, 1/4 Mile: 15.2 @ 9x.x?)

Help me out by telling me what the X's = and what I need to do so the odds are in my favor ! :)

Q45 0-60 x.x 1/4 mile at 9x.x mph?TL 0-60 x.x 1/4 mile at 9x.x mph C320 0-60: 7.1, 1/4 Mile: 15.x @ xx.x mphintegra 0-60 7.1, 1/4 Mile: 15.x @ 9x.x mph

Race from a roll at 55mph and by 120mph you will have many carlenghts on him.It will be to your advatange to make the race NOT 0-60 but 55 to 100 or for a third of a mile or so.On hi end you can beat every one of those cars.Your model year is less quick than the older Q but still a winner if raced right.

Fred...:)

Numbers on paper mean nothing compared to real life. Get a stopwatch and time it yourself. Of course that won't be accurate, but at least it'll be satifying. Probably mid 7's 0-60 and 15-16+ 1/4 mile. Aren't there places in SoCal where you can get it professionally measured?

As for water cooler chit-chat... be prepared to laugh at your friend when the transmission blows. If he had done any prior research on the car he would have seen that both the TL and CL -- esp. the S models -- are notorious for transmission failures. Only recently has Honda started to fess up. I've heard of 6 month + waiting periods to get new transmissions installed.

So with some transmission slippage his 0-60 will be about 12-13 sec??

You may wanna think about a plentum cleaning first, that's big help. You might also wanna run a can of BK44 thru the tank first and race with 1/4 in the tank.

I've walked a bunch of them on the interstate, but I'm not much of a stoplight guy, so I can't vouch for stoplights.

Actually, my mom's had (2) TL's and I've destroyed her on the highway. It's pretty funny, you never expect to race your mother, but every once in a while we pass each other on the highway. And the race ensues. . .

You may even get him in a stoplight race, if he doesn't know how to launch the car. Powerbrake about 4,000 and launch that sucker!b

Run him 0 to 100, easy to do late night from an empty on-ramp...

Got a good kill on a buddy's new Avenger R/T that way.

According to car-stats.com, which sites a 1993 issue of Motor Trend, the 1994 Q hits 60 in 7.2, 1/4 in 15.4. Good luck! I hate Acuras- especially that whored-out Accord, the TL :D

My best launches are just off idle, TCS off, of course.

If you brakestand, you will get wheelspin and the race is over before it starts. In addition to the distance lost against the competitor, immediately add a second or two to your times.

This is my experience...all based on Vericom computer data.

Acura 1999 TL has a four speed and the 225 HP engine.

I would assume a later 5 speed TLS, or certainly a TLS coupe 6 speed manual, would do beat most Qs up to maybe 120 mph.

Who knows? Personally, I don't care. No driving skill involved in flooring the accelerator. I don't drive a 2 ton plus car to drag race.

Maxnix- these little races with my friend are all in good fun and for bragging rights. I obviously didnt buy the Q for Drag racing, and when I raced him in the explorer vs his lexus, obviously we werent thinking we were setting new world record track times. If there is anyone who ISNT into drag racing its me. I hear that all day, "why did you buy an NSX, they only go 13.6 in the quarter mile! you could have had a supra and with only $1,500 dollars in mods you could be running in the 12s."

I too think there is a lot more than dragging, like that 90 degree right turn at the end! Now THAT is where the fun is.

I enjoy racing G35 and new 2002Q they cannot understand how the 90 does it they look for Nitrous hidden somewhere! The M45 gives me a run and has gotten me by 2 car lengths [twice] gotta find a little more somewhere......here horsey horsey.

Thinking about a hidden homemade 30 HP progressive shot ......0.3-0.4 seconds off 2nd gear only.......just losing by a single car length will drive them crazy.

Yeah, I would rather have the NSX also for non-billiard smooth roads that undulate and turn. Oh, where to store the luggage for that week long trip down the coast?

The last model Supras and 300ZXs (especially in TT editions) are amazing in what they achieve in performance numbers for thousands less than the NSX.

I don't think anyone would confuse the dynamics of the driving experience of the other two versus the NSX.

I am shocked that Dennis would street race:nono! The trouble is, with Subarus and blue hairs in Cadillacs on the road, one never gets above 120 mph where the Q will dominate. Most current BMWs are speed limited to 130 mph for this market.

Racing for pink slips coast-to-coast is the only type that really matters.
