Was at a traffic light yesterday, this woman in Navigator pulls up along side of me. She floors it as the light turns green, to try to pull ahead of me before the road narrows back to one lane. I kept pace, not letting her pass. Then I realize we were getting to where the road narrows to one lane, I thought she might just push me out of the way....so I let her pass.

At the next light, I pulled along side of her. Again she floored it, but this time she needed to learn a lesson that her big SUV is not a race car. It actually was pretty even the first 100 feet or so... but then the G35 pulled ahead and in front of the Navigator. The road narrowed back to one lane, she was a sore loser and was riding my tail in her 5500lb SUV.

Anyway, not something I would do again ... we were going about 70 on a road with a 35mph speed limit. One thing I did notice, there was a stong sulfur smell after I "raced" . Someone told me that high RPMs burn off carbon residue in the engine and it's actually good to rev engine every once in a while.

Does anyone know if that is true / accurate ?

It doesn't hurt to blow out the carbon maybe once a day so that it doesn't build up. Just don't do it all the time as that will quickly wear out the entire drive train.

As far as the woman in the Navigator is concerned, I often do what she did to avoid being trapped behind slowpokes. Buf, if the person next to me hustles on out as soon as the light turns green, I fall in behind rather than try to out run him/her. I just want to go at my own pace. That's easiest if the faster people are ahead of me and the slower ones behind.

There's some suv that will keep pace or even beat most G's. New escalade will hit the 60 in 6.5 seconds, turbo cayanne would destory most G's with exception to G37, New Supercharged Range rover with 500 horsepower. Suvs are getting scary.

If you would have said Blue Sequoia I'd think you had raced my wife.

Some of those big SUV's have big V8's and make over 300 hp. Even though they are heavy they still have tons of torque to get the beast moving.

My wifes 07 Sequoia runs a 1/4 mile in 14.9-15.0 at 88-89 mph.

I wouldn't worry about the sulfer smell if it goes away.

Watch out for Jeep SRT-8s too. My friend has one and it is sorta scary to go that fast in an SUV. He calls it the Cayenne Killer.

You clearly do not know when a woman is flirting with you. This was obviously an invitation to a closer relationship which you did not recognize due to your testosterone-fueled competitiveness.

Did you at least get a camera phone picture?
